Floroom has 4 rooms on the top floor of a Florence townhouse (no lift). The interior is modern and because space is at a premium, everything is cleverly designed to make maximum use of it. As other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms are small but pefectly adequate. They are definitely only good for probably a maximum of 2-3 nights - ie if you don't need to fully unpack. But everything we needed was in the room, including free bottles of water, which was welcome in the humid weather (and considering other hotels charge upwards of €2 for a small bottle...) The bathroom was cleverly designed although I wasn't a fan of the bathroom rug - yes it looked nice, but it wasn't as clean as I would have liked...and the floor needed a really good scrub as it showed the marks, although it WAS clean. We too hit our legs on the sharp corners of the bed! But I cushioned it with one of the provided pashminas... ;)

The upstairs common area is cosy. Breakfast was made for us which I found rather unnerving as the very charming guy stood there while we ate - I felt a bit like a butler was waiting! But it was an adequate breakfast and nicely presented.

As another reviewer commented - we got back one night to find live music in the square below - it did finish by midnight - so if you go to bed early, probably best not to stay here.

But undoubtedly the best thing about Floroom is the location - PERFECT - easy to come back during the day and re-charge, drop off shopping, etc and then head out again. In a great neighbourhood with loads of interesting shops. The two friendly staff were there in the morning to make any arrangements or bookings you might need (they made our museum reservation which saved tons of time queueing), and were also there in the early evening when we returned from sightseeing to make any dinner reservations.

We ate at Quattro Leonie just opposite which had good home cooked food and fun waiters and a loud, busy vibe - locals and tourists alike - and also at nearby Nove which was a bit of a Florence "scene" - absolutely great for people watching! But some of the best pasta ever eaten...

Would definitely recommend this to couples as an ideally located alternative to some of the more chintzy hotels in Florence.

We stayed here on our honeymoon. I liked the area- not as touristy, but an easy walk to everything. The room was small but adequate, without a closet but with a rod to hang your clothes on if you bothered to unpack. Bathroom small, but adequate. Good value for money. Good breakfast. Try the Quatro Leoni restuarant around the corner!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in June 2009. The good: wireless internet, modern rooms, A/C worked well, and we really enjoyed the Oltrarno area. Needs improvement: service was lacking, and the windows need some serious soundproofing (the square outside is loud from 7am to midnight). The rooms are tiny, so there is not much space for your luggage - and we only had 2 small suitcases. The edges on the bed frame are sharp, so we kept running in to them when trying to move around the small space. We are not high maintenance travelers, so we did not need much guidance as far as sightseeing or dining goes... however, if you are that type of traveler, stay elsewhere. This is more like staying in a tiny apartment than an inn or hotel. Overall, I'd say this is a good place to rest your head for 1 or 2 nights, but would not recommend for longer stays. Definitely not recommended for light sleepers.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Florence and was a little overwhelmed trying to find a place to stay. We found Floroom on a "design hotel" website and booked it based on the photos, not knowing exactly what to expect. Floroom is a four-room bed and breakfast. The design is beautiful—the photos they show are accurate. Very modern, comfortable and clean. The room was a decent size with a large bathroom. The windows do a good job of shutting out the noise of Florence. There was free wi-fi and a cool keyless entry systems.

The location is close to the Ponte Vecchio and Boboli Gardens, so it's close enough to walk to everything easily (we even walked from the train). But it's a couple blocks off the tourist path so you feel like you're in more of a neighborhood. A good breakfast was included, as well as snacks and drinks that they have in the kitchen/lounge that is always available to guests. The people who run Floroom are very nice ad helpful.
