“Super food!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

A great meal, you won't be unhappy. They greet you with a prosecco and an amuse bouche, serve a moscato with your dessert, and pour a limoncello or grappa after your meal, all at no additional expense. Of course the cost is factored into their prices, but it just makes for a very hospitable experience. And the food was divine. This is what fine dining should be. Just make sure someone in your party stays sober enough to guide you back to your hotel. Ours was next door, and my companion does not drink alcohol, so it worked for me!

“Great food in a lovely city”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

It was the first restaurant we encountered in Cortona and we chose to make a stop on a quiet night in June 2013. The atmosphere was relax and the service very attentive. We ate great Italian food served with a modern touch. We had a great meal. A real good value in a nice village to explore.

“Excellent food in a slightly formal environment”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We wanted to visit La Buccacia after the good experience of a few years back, but unhappily the place was fully booked. We then went to Preludio, which we found slightly less enthousiastic in terms of atmosphere but quite enjoyable in terms of food and service and in this respect a match for La Buccacia.
The free prosecco to begin with was an excellent start and the free limoncello's after we payed the bill felt very hospitable as well. Food was excellent albeit very calory-heavy. The truffled risotto was great, the homemade pasta with funghi porcini quite nice. Secundi were well presented and tasted excellent, although we could have done quite nicely with about two thirds of the quantity. The sidedish of grilled vegetables was for the main part grilled to the level of burning, which was a shame.
But all in all, a good experience with excellent value and we would probably visit again when we went to Cortona.

“Prelude to mediocrity”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

This is one of the worst experiences we have had in Italy, restaurant-wise. My lamb was nothing but fat (and overcooked at that). My stepson had the duck, which was overcooked and unpalatable. We ordered a "side" (roasted potatoes)....you would have thought it was roasted hockey puck. Do NOT get caught up in the hype of this restaurant...it was sub par all the way. By the way, this is my FIRST review....I feel that strongly about this place.

Oh, by the way, the tomato soup is really pomodoro sauce....served in a wine glass....don't do it!

When we complained, we got a little reduction in the bill...but, sorry, it was a poor meal in Italy, which is almost impossible and certainly unacceptable.

“Delicious food and great service”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

We enjoyed hot bread and a complimentary appetizer to start. The food was above average and the service detailed and attentive. We tried the Brunello and two types of regional liquors.
