“Like a Romantic Fairytale”
Reviewed August 10, 2009

I had the pleasure of staying at Novole for 6 weeks in the autumn of 2006 during the olive harvest. Imagine the setting sun over the golden hills of Tuscany covered with olive trees, weighed down with the fruit, the music of the Italian language as friends and family converse, sing and laugh while sitting skillfully in the trees as they pick. Then to retire into the beautiful convent to share some wine and beautifully fresh food from the garden at Novole. You will be delighted by your host, Lucio's sense of humour and warm welcome to the best part of Tuscany. I look forward to my next visit to Novole, I will always go back.

My fiance and I stayed at Novole for 1 week, from May 23-May 30 2009. We had already spent 1 week in Italy, in Bologna and Florence. Novole was a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the city. We arrived to meet our host, Lucio, who was friendly and welcoming. He made us coffee, offered us his own olive oil, and brought us to the cherry tree where the cherries were ready for picking. He made us feel right at home and, later in the week when we had car trouble with our rental, he dealt with the rental agency and coordinated the pick-up of the car and a taxi for us to the rental agency.

We stayed in the cottage, which was charming and comfortable. We ate every meal on the patio overlooking the valley. The only thing I would suggest is that you bring tea-towels for drying dishes. The furniture is rustic and minimal, but this only adds to the charm of the lovely place. The shower was great, and the kitchen was fine for preparing simple meals. The rosemary and lavender grows like hedges!

Novole is located off the beaten track, but close enough to both groceries/gas/bank in Carmucia, and tourist attractions such as Cortona (the best small town we visited in Tuscany- eat at La Grotto- amazing food), Lago Trasimo, Montepulciano, Sienna, and Arezzo.

I would definitely return to Novole- it was romantic and relaxing, and it made our trip feel like a personal, unique experience. We feel like we found a special place that is full of history and beauty.

My girlfriend and stayed for a two week period at Novole. It will be difficult to find another place in the world this peaceful. It's like stepping back into time and living the Tuscan life. Lucio, the owner was a wonderful host and brought the wine out in the evening! Great food, people and most of all country!!! Well be back every summer.

My husband and I spent a week at Novole. Our cottage transported us to another time and place. The former convent is nestled in the hills close enough to Cortona to drive in for dinner or sightseeing but a world apart from the tourist crowds. We took long hikes in the hills and woods; picked wild rasberries and read books stretched out in deck chairs in our yard. We spent lazy afternoons admiring Luccio's beautiful photography or his antique marionette collection. If you are looking for room service and swimming pool, keep looking. If you are yearning to forget the world in a place where you will rediscover the sound of silence and the brilliance of the stars in the night sky, Novole is for you.

For some years now as a group of friends we spend a week at Novole in spring. We rent the farmhouse with its delightful small kitchen.
We do practical nothing, wander around, maybe go to the market at Cortono on Saturday’s, cooking fancy Italian dinners (we try) with salads from the vegetable garden and drinking Lucio's excellent red wine.
If you prefer authenticity on swimming pools, Novole is the place.

I spent one week in Novole last June. The apartment I rented was the small cottage. It was furnished in a simple way but charming. There were stone walls and wooden ceilings. In front of the bed there was an old fireplace. Anyway the beauty of Novole is in the silence and nature all around. In this place seems that the time has never gone.
My children had a lot of fun with the animals: two dogs (Viola and Pepito), three cats and two horses.
The nearest city is Cortona (12 km) where you can find: good restaurant (Osteria del Teatro is excelent), museums and churchs, shops (a very good chocolate shop in Via Guelfa).
Spring is a perfect period to see the colors of Tuscany and start to live outside.

Novole is a very romantic place.
It is located in the middle of tuscan hills.
Originary was a franciscan convent, then a farm and finally an agritourism. Spending few days in Novole you can feel all the history that has gone into this place.
I stayed with my boyfriend in the Chapel. It was a very romantic experience. Stone walls, high ceilings and a sofa in front of the wood stove. All around the beautiful Tuscan countryside.
Novole is in the centre of Tuscany, so you can easily move to Perugia, Florence, Arezzo, Siena, Montepulciano, terme di rapolano.
I strongly raccomend this place to visit the Tuscan and spend a relaxing with your family.
