We were staying nearby and it was suggested that we go to Portole for dinner, since it was "rightp the hill".
Well, after one meal with Franco and his family, we were hooked! There was a menu, but it was soon replaced by "you tell me what you want, my wife will make". The pasta is amazing, the friendship even more so...
Franco gave us a map if the region and highlighted the towns we should visit. On the day we were leaving Tuscany for home, we stopped to say goodbye to the gentleman who had become our friend. The restaurant was closed, but Franco made up some cappucinos and biscuits to share while chatting one last time on the patio.
If you are anywhere in Tuscany, you need to stop and share a meal with Franco. Even better, stay with his family and share the hospitality of this delightful man for a few days.More
