“great time in Cortona”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

This B&B was a pleasant surprise. Located in the heart of Cortona. Our room was large, the bathroom was modern. Excellent Wi-Fi and tv. Our hosts were extremely helpful, from the beautiful breakfast to the little things such as making us a cup of tea after a long day in Rome. Highly recommended if you want a great room in a great little Italian town. Try a picnic on the rooftop balcony in the evening admiring the views of Cortona and the surrounding valleys. Thanks to Jeannette, her husband and Carlotta and Daisy for a great stay. I would be surprised if there was a better place to stay in the area.

Room Tip: Our room was Le Rufino. Large room with very good bathroom. Located on the 3rd floor so you do hav...

Casa Chilenne was such a lovely experience. Everything from the spacious modern room with a sitting room and terrace (we stayed in "Il Nido"), the wonderful ammenities, and the convenient location, to the excellent hosts. Jeanette, Luciano and the "grrls", Carlotta and Daisy, made our stay fun and very welcoming. Jeanette offered a wealth of information and helpful hints for the traveler. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

Jenny and Luciano were great hosts. I've stayed there twice now (Nov 2012 and June 2013) and am heading back again later this year. Jenny's Italian is fantastic (as it should be after living in Italy for many years) so she is able to arrange things with ease. Language is no drama given her native San Francisco accent. She was very helpful with information about local systems (ie: banking).

The bedrooms are huge by Italian standards as is the bathroom. The B&B is located in the centre of the town perhaps 50m from the main Piazza. But if you're in a town like Cortona, you won't be spending time in your room except to sleep. The disabled electric chair on the stairway double as a luggage carrier which beats the hell out of carrying it upstairs. Her breakfasts are fantastic ( it's hard to forget fried eggs with truffle which was not to be out done by her cakes!).

While I rarely stay at B&B's, Casa Chilenne is the exception to the rule.

This was our first visit to Cortona but it will not be the last!
After getting off of the train, we met two study abroad students from the University of Alberta who helped us fond the bus up the hill to Cortona.
We were very thankful Jeanette had an automatic chair on the stairs to haul our luggage up!
There were great pastries and fruit waiting for us at check in.
On our first morning in Cortona, we were spoiled with an American style breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, and, bacon. It was incredibly tasty!
We really enjoyed a hike to the top to the hill and Santa Margarita Church. We made many photo stops on the way and the kids did not complain once.
From the beginning of our stay, we were given access to rooftop patio and enjoyed a nice, sunny lunch up there.
This town has wonderful little shops, great art, and, excellent food.
Jeanette arranged a quick efficient taxi to the train station for us when we had to leave. We would have like to stay several more days and experience more of Cortona and the area.
We'll be back and definitely stay at Casa Chilenne

Jeanette and Luciano are the best hosts! The rooms are modern, comfortable and have the best bathrooms I've had in Italy. A group of us stayed for a week over Christmas, Jeanette and Luciano made a feast that was phenomenal. Her contacts in the region are invaluable, she connected us with drivers and guides for surrounding towns, knows the best restaurants to visit and some of the most interesting out of the way local shops that you would have a hard time finding on your own. I can't wait to go back!

No better place to stay if you are going to visit Cortona. It is our second time hete and we do confirm our previous comments. Jeanette is a fantastic host, she made a delicious chocolate cake for our wedding anniversary. Rooms are very clean and cozy. Casa Chilenne: what else?

I've read the other reviews, and maybe the best way to say it is I think a Jeanette fan club may be forming. Admittedly, as Americans it is easy to relax when the proprietor is American-born, but she really does an excellent job. Her home baked breakfasts are a stand-out, there's a very nice small lounge that has a small kitchenette (espresso machine!) that opens to an area with outdoor seating. Casa Chilenne had everything we wanted.

Room Tip: Our front rooms facing the street do get some street noise from kids going to school as well as folk...
