It is only because of the drivers with Hills and Roads that has made our recent trip to Tuscany one to never forget. The drivers all speak English and they have total knowledge of the areas, mideval cities, towns, wineries; you name it they have an abundance of knowledge. They make you feel comfortable and re-assurred of always being safe. Christiani picked us up from the Florence airport and was kind enough to take us to a grocery store for supplies before we reached our beautiful Cottage la Vita, amazing! Luca, the owner of the company, was a gentleman and always made sure that if he was not available that someone else was. Marella, full of energy and fun; Maria felt like our daughter and made us feel like her best friend. Thank you Luka and staff for taking such good care of us and making us feel safe and yet feel that we were on a wild adventure, which the four of us "seniors" were. You are our first call if we ever have the opportunity to returen to beautiful Tuscany, Siena, Italy! Thank you!! Anne

Maria picked us up promptly at our hotel in Florence. We had such a fun day. Before our tour got started, we stopped at a place overlooking Florence to get a great photo op of the whole city which was absolutely breath-taking. Then we began our beautiful drive through the picturesque hills of Tuscany, stopping along the way for pics and a yummy cappuccino. Luckily for us, our driver, the lovely Maria had a great sense of humour and went along with our antics - we had a blast hanging out with her. She customized our tour perfectly, planning a delicious lunch and wine tasting at Capella Sant'Andrea for us. If you have the chance try to make this a stop along your tour. It was one of the highlights of our day. Flavia, owner and gracious host made us a wonderful lunch (so fresh and delicious) and the wine was perfectly paired up. We brought some back with us despite having no extra rom in our luggage. We also went to San Gimiagnano and walked around taking in the sights, music and award winning gelato! There's more but too much to write in a review, just book and find out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Even though we rented a car in Florence (at the airport) for the drive through Tuscany, we decided to leave the driving to someone else for our day of wine tasting. We booked the September reservation already last December. Luca reserved the date for us with no down payment and was very responsive to my endless questions over email.

Our driver was Christiano - and he was great! He was informative and engaging throughout the day -- of course, we loosened up a bit and got more chatty as the day progressed! :-) We saw 4 wineries and made 2 quick stops at tiny villages for sightseeing. Christiano makes a great tour guide!

The only glitch we ran into was what appeared to be a scheduling issue. We arrived at the Sovestro winery for our tour/lunch only to find out that we were an hour 'late'. I know that Christiano didn't believe we were late as he commented when we drove by Sovestro that we had to come back that way for our tour later. To be fair, Sovestro served us lunch first (out of order) and gave us a quick (unfortunately VERY quick) tour afterwards. They were very gracious and accommodating, but it was obvious there was a mix up. If it were only the one mix up, I wouldn't even write about it but at 2 other places they were 'surprised' to see us when we showed up. Again, everyone was accommodating and our day wasn't significantly impacted in any way, but it was obvious we were about a half-step off from our intended schedule.

I would definitely recommend Hills and Roads but would suggest that you request that Luca and team confirm that his intended itinerary is actually reserved before heading out.

We were fortunate enough to book 3 days with Hills & Roads. We wanted to leave the driving to someone else so we could be stress free while we stayed in Tuscany. Many people rent a car but how much more special to have someone else do all the driving, not having to figure out maps, not having to park far from the entry to all Medieval villages, being able to enjoy all the wine you please, giving you so much knowledge & history... I could go on and on for all the reasons to not rent a car and have Hills & Roads do all the driving. Not only was it stress free but we also learned so much about everywhere we visited. On the 1st day Lucca picked us up in the morning, right on time at our Hotel in Tuscany and took us to a medieval village. One where there are no tourists. after that we went to see the Gregorian chanting at Abbazia di Sant'Antimo. this was a very special experience and Lucca new so much history. We went to two amazing wineries in the Brunello region with lunch in between at another fabulous medieval village. This was a fantastic day.
On the next day Andrea picked us up in the afternoon also right on time and took us to a winery in the Chianti region. I had mentioned that a family member told me that I should visit San Gimignano. I know this is a much more touristy medieval village but Andrea quickly changed our itinerary and took us there. so glad we went it is breathtaking. This is one of the many reasons that Hills & Roads beats all group tours. you can customize and change plans at any moment. Then Andrea took us to Sienna. He gave us a fabulous walking and driving tour through the city. He is such a kind and genuine person. We had asked him to make a reservation for us for dinner. He picked a great restaurant. We texted him when we were ready to be picked up. Even after dinner he proceeded to give us more of a tour of Sienna. I would like to note - they picked great wineries, we purchased wine that will be shipped to us in Los Angeles at every winery they took us to.
On the 3rd day Maria picked us up as we checked out of our hotel in Tuscany and took us and all our luggage to a charming Farm House where the very charming Stefania hosted us for lunch in her garden. We had the most amazing meal all prepared by Stefania. She has a fabulous vegetable garden and cows and even a friendly dog. Truly this was a day we will always remember. Then Maria took us to Greve in Chianti for a quick visit and then transfer to Florence to our next hotel. Maria is such a lovely woman. so sweet and shared so much knowledge with us as well. it was as if you had your friend taking you everywhere.
All three of our guides, Lucca, Andrea & Maria were delightful. You can tell that they love what they do and they love there countryside. They made our visit in Tuscany truly memorable. Grazie Tanti!!!

We booked a tour for 6 with Luca. We took the train up to Chiusi where he met us to start the tour. This was the most amazing day! We didn't have any preferences so We went with the agenda he suggested. We stopped at two wineries that were not touristy at all and had great wine. We had lunch at a farmhouse where we were served a delicious lunch of food grown and made on the farm. It was one of our best meals on our whole vacation. The owners were there and so nice to talk to. We also stopped in two medieval villages in Montepulciano and Pienza. Luca was super nice and helpful. He told us a lot about the history of the area and wine. He gave us the right amount of tour guiding and time to spend on our own.

I highly recommend using Hills and Roads for your next trip. It was the highlight of our vacation. Taking the train from Rome was very easy and allowed us to see more of Italy than just Rome. You can contact Luca via email, just be patient with his response time. He runs the company and splits time between tours and the administrative stuff.

Thanks Luca!!
