We took an amazing tour of Florence and Pisa with Maria! She is so knowledgeable about the history of Florence, my family and I learned so much! Maria met us at our cruise ship promptly at 8:30am and we drove directly to Florence, where the majority of the day was spent walking around all the main beautiful attractions of the city. She also took us to a great non-touristy place for lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Towards the later afternoon, Maria drove us through the beautiful Tuscany region on our way to Pisa--mainly just to get the traditional pictures in front of the famous leaning tower. I highly recommend Hills and Roads for anyone traveling to this region. There's still so much more I want to see and I know I'll definitely contact them again for any future tours I may want to take!

We took an amazing 2 day tour with Luca. Cost was reasonable and Luca made it very enjoyable. Before you book with anyone else do yourself a favor and contact him.

We used Hills and Roads for a tour-transfer from Florence to Rome, which included a scenic tour through Chianti and wonderful lunch on a farm in Tuscany, and then for a cruise ship excursion from Livorno to the Cinque Terre, Porto Venere, and Pisa. We set everything up through Luca, who was very responsive to all of our inquiries, but had Andrea and Maria as our drivers. They were both great, and one of the best parts is how flexible they are. Both tours were great, and we would highly recommend Hills and Roads!

We had a wonderful day in rural Tuscany with Andrea, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely polite! He took us to a working farm/agricampo (?) for lunch where we enjoyed home grown vegetables, meats, homemade cheeses, and wine under a canopy of vines with an awesome view of the countryside. It was my favorite meal in Italy! We also saw a very old abbey, visited another farm with winery, and climbed up Roca d'Orcia. Thank you, Andrea and Hills and Roads!

We wanted to see more of Tuscany so we booked this tour and kinda left it up to the driver. Turns out that his family had a home in Montalcino and he was very familiar with the area. First he took us to a family vineyard who he knew, small, about 5-7 acres. The guide called at the last minute and the Mrs welcomed us with snacks and homemade wine, she was very grace full, showed and explained their operation. We bought wine, olive oil and homemade wine jelly....mmm good. Then we went to a restaurant in a small town. The guide called ahead to be sure they had their specialty which is "picci", hand rolled pasta...delicious. We drove thru the countryside of Val d'Orcia to the little hill town of Rocca d'Orcia. This town has about 30 inhabitants...almost abandoned. A few years ago a wealthy industrialist, Pasquale Forte, visited the town, fell in love with it and the area and started buying up the houses and property.
Now called Podere Forte it features fabulous rooms in the old stone buildings, renowned chefs and excellent wine and cuisine...quite amazing to have seen what he has done and worth going to if you are in that area. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be with and helped plan an off the beaten path tour in Tuscany.
