“Best Meal in 10 Days in Sicily”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

This restaurant, it's service and its food are a shining light in Taormina and all of the island. My wife and I just returned to the hotel from a spectacular dinner which included Arancini stuffed with cheese and anchovies, eggplant casserole, a ravioli stuffed with tender squid, sea bream in a butter sauce and, my own secundi of tuna with a sweet onion and chocolate sauce. Yes, that's right and lick- the-plate-delicious. Every meal is preceded by bread, bread sticks and incredible olive oil. Even our desserts, a pane cotta and a deconstructed cannolo were wonderful.
The pace of the meal, slow but not in attentive was perfect. Each of the wait staff and the owner/chef made us feel like special guests. This is a must-do if you're in Western Sicily or, for that matter, in Italy. With a bottle of Sicilian vino rosso, the price was about 115 euro, almost half the price of other "fine dining" joints in this overpriced town.
Restaurant Le Naumachie is a place you just shouldn't miss!!

“Terrible food and worse service!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

We've been traveling in Sicily for ten days and not had a bad meal until we chose this place for dinner. I cannot believe that the excellent reviews of this tourist trap are truly tourists and not friends of the owner. The waiter was rude and the manager even ruder. Do not waste your money here!

Gentile Cliente,

“Umm chef had a rough day... Food were v.salty”
Reviewed May 8, 2013 via mobile

Food were very salty.
I usually don't get enough of fried squid but I couldn't finish my dishes. I had to wash the salt off with water in the mouse, then, enjoy the texture n flavour afterwards. But gave up after half as my belly was filling with water....

Also carbonara was salty.

I guess chef had a rough day so he or she overpowered food with salt.

My hubby also said one of his dish was salty. But he liked tuna with chocolate thing, cannot be salty as it was with chocolate.^^

Price is little pricy but the food presented nicely n staff was helpful. Only if it were less salty , would've been great. I would hv given at least 4 stars but....

I cannot stop thinking about my lefty fried squid. I love it but couldn't eat them all.

“Delectable food and impeccable service”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

La Naumachie was worth a second visit during our week's stay in Taormina. The salad we enjoyed for lunch on the first occasion was delicious, a wonderful blend of leaves and other ingredients with dressing freshly made at the table and served to our requirements and the service was impeccable. We liked the fact that the restaurant was slightly off the main pedestrian alleys and therefore peaceful, whilst the strains of nearby music were still gently audible. We returned to try the tourist lunch menu at 20 euros each including two courses, a glass of wine and bottled water. Both the orange salad and caponata starters were delicious, and the pasta which followed was cooked and served to perfection. We thought there was a good range of options on the tourist menu - and many more if you prefer to eat a la carte. Definitely recommended and somewhere we would return if we were in Taormina again.

“Our best food from Venice to Sicily”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Everything we were served here was excellent - the bread, olive oil, eggplant casserole, mussels, ravioli stuffed with fish and potatoes, and filet with Gorgonzola. Francesco manages a busy restaurant with grace and aplomb. My husband and I had been looking forward to this trip in part for the dining and were disappointed throughout Italy because the quality was not as we remember. Ristorante la Naumachie was the food we remember and unique in terms of its offerings. You must try it. Francesco informed us that his family also owns Mama Rosa, so I imagine it is wonderful too. If we did not leave the next day, we would have done so ourselves!
