You will find a lovely Restaurant.
Great place with character, good food, good service and very reasonable.
Sometimes it's nice to get off the "main street" to somewhere with a little more of a "local" feel.
It's quite new, we hadn't seen it before, but very glad that we found it.
We will certainly return.

Delightfully tucked away off on the far end of town, just beyond the Porta Messina, is this very reasonably priced restaurant. Because it was January there was no one--I mean no one--in the restaurant at dinner time. That did not deter us, especially since the atmosphere seemed very inviting. The small dining area is nicely arranged with Sicilian-type decorations. We ordered the special for the night, which included a salad, a pasta dish, and a main course--all very affordable for this very pricy town. We liked it so much, we went back the second night and ordered spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti bolognese--we had a yen for something a little more simple, and it did not disappoint. A good deal in Taormina.

On a recent out of season trip to Taormina (end of January) we arrived late due to Etna erupting and diverting us to Palermo. We arrived starving at 10.30 at night with very few restaurants open. We spotted this new restaurant just down the hill past the Porta Messina end of town. The waiter (who I'd guess was the owner) was very welcoming considering it was so quiet and he might have otherwise gotten to close up early.

The restaurant was very cosy inside with funny little touches (pretty mock balconies with cute children's clothes hanging from them, we had quite a debate on whether they were real clothes drying lol). The wine list was great and there was a lot of choice on the menu. Only one of us went for the fish (which is of course the raison d'etre of the place). Our pasta dishes were all good and the fish dish was huge and very tasty (I tried a bit). The food arrived in good time too, I think our hunger was probably pretty obvious. We had tiramisu afterwards which I was a little disappointed by, though my husband enjoyed it. We were given complimentary limoncello at the end as well which fortified us before we went out into the cold night air. Though there was no sense of being in a hurry to leave which was really kind, as it was late even by italian standards when we left.

We returned for lunch on the last day and had pizza this time - we were so hungry the first time we didn't turn to the last page of the menu! I was a bit cautious about it as I thought a seafood restaurant might not excel at pizza but I was wrong. The pizza was absolutely fantastic, definitely a highlight. Crispy, light and just the right amount of toppings. We are really fussy about pizza and this was one of the best I've eaten in Taormina. The antipasti were also lovely. The restaurant was a lot busier this time around with several tables of local people having a quick lunch which is always a good sign. The chef also popped by to see if we were happy which was a nice touch.

So a new restaurant that we will definitely revisit when we return. Well worth a visit.
