“The utterly fantastic Villa Angela!!”
Reviewed September 24, 2009

Researched hotels in Sicily as potential destinations for our honeymoon in May/June 2009 and opted for the Hotel Villa Angela. From the moment of picking up the phone and phoning the hotel one frosty Saturday morning from Edinburgh in January to make enquiries in to availability to the point of leaving after our wonderful honeymoon stay, the staff were nothing but friendly, professional, efficient, honest, helpful and full of great advice. The hotel itself is relatively small (27 rooms) but this absolutely works in its favour. The hotel never feels overcrowded and there is always an edge of terrace table available for enjoying your tasty breakfast or lunch. The hotel is beautiful, the views of Mount Etna and the coast are even better. Lovely touches around the communal areas and the use of flowers everywhere add real colour to the building. Useful shuttle service down to the old town of Taormina regularly in the afternoon and evening. The young sicilian guys who run this are extremely pleasant and nothing is a problem to them. The food is delicious at breakfast time with a varied choice of options. The lunchtime menu is sublime. Have to say i had a pasta passion before going to Villa Angela and since our stay my passion for pasta has increased threefold! Even trying to copy some of the chefs pasta dishes since arrived home and just about got one nailed down! Never the same as when there though, so fresh and tasty with a glass of red at lunchtime looking out over mount etna-heaven! Lots of nice fish dishes aswell-the wife loved those. We stayed in the "Etna Suite" which was top class. Spacious, lovely furniture, Jacuzzi bath and 2 balconies with sun loungers. Room service staff very efficient. Reception staff are a delight and full of great advice on restaurants that are good value and on local trips/places to visit. Very friendly atmosphere around the place and the manager Paul who runs the hotel really cant do enough for you to welcome you and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Get yourself booked up!!!

Hotel Villa Angela is an amazing hotel. Location is spectacular, built in a hillside overlooking both Mount Etna and the coast of the pretty town of Taormina. The hotel staff are very helpful and so friendly. They will recommend to you where to eat or to advise you of the attractions in and around Taormina. The hotel is immaculate, with a nice size outside pool. The buffet breakfast is vast with so many different dishes for you to chose from.
This hotel really lives up to the description in the brochure.
For people with walking difficulties the hotel has a shuttle bus running during the day into Taormina but I think once you have arrived at Villa Angela you will find you do not want to venture far from this wonderful hotel.

I'm only going to write a short review of our one nights stay here. It's a lovely little hotel, great rooms, pool area, staff and view. It's small and perfectly formed- we loved it and the the staff were wonderful.

Villa Angela is an amazing hotel perched on the hill overlooking the historic town of Taormina. The staff were friendly but also extremely professional and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them. The room I stayed in was very comfortable & has a large balcony with incredible views overlooking the picturesque town & bay below. There is also a fabulous uninterrupted view of Mount Etna which I was able to enjoy every night from the balcony of the hotel bar! A buffet breakfast of local, fresh produce was the ideal way to start the day before lounging around the intimate & quiet swimming pool. I lunched several times at the hotel restaurant & the food - mainly fish & pasta dishes was exceptional. As there is no evening meal available at the hotel, the staff were only too happy to offer local alternatives & I visited several outstanding places. If history & sightseeing is your thing then the historic Teatro Greco is definitely worth a visit. I will definitely return to this hidden gem & will have no hesitation in recommending to friends.

Thanks again for a great stay!

Best hotel in Taormina by a mile. My wife and I have been there quite a few times now, and stayed at other, more expensive hotels. Some were ok, others were downright awful, but Villa Angela was a real surprise. Unbelievably stunning views of the coast and Mount Etna, very quiet location, spacious rooms, amazing swimming pool, extremely helpful and friendly staff, great food, free internet, parking etc etc. Our room had 2 sea view balconies, a jacuzzi, and a complimentary bottle of bubbly. Nice touch! Thanks to all the staff who made this our best trip yet. We will definitely be back.

A stunning resort. Be prepared to walk lots. Try the local buses rather than taxi's - much cheaper. Lacks sandy beaches but who needs then with all the beautiful scenery?!

We visited Villa Angela July 2008, it was just as good as the reviews suggest!
We went back again this year, it hasn’t changed. The staff and family Kerr are as attentive as ever. The hills and view of Etna doesn’t change. Villa Angela is a great place to relax but there is plenty to do if you want to explore. Taormina is always interesting, check what is on at the Teatro Antico. We saw Paul Simon in 2008 and Simple Minds in 2009. There are lots of good places to eat in Taormina ,however, we spent most of our evenings at Al Saraceno Restrauant. It is a short walk up the hill and a quicker stroll down.
