Excellent location, close to all amenities (cable car, bus station, corso umberto, etc). We had a very clean room with ensuite, crispy clean bed linen and towels and a balcony with a breathtaking view. Staff were extremely helpful especially Rosario and Giovanna, the receptionists who also spoke good english - they were always there to answer all our queries. Breakfast was served in the open terrace with an amazing view. Breakfast consisted of coffee of your choice - cappuccino, espresso, americano etc, - orange juice, freshly baked croissants and bread, salami and cheese, fresh fruit and fruit salad. We highly recommend Hotel Elios.

Room Tip: Sea view from 2nd floor upwards

Fantastic views from the shared fourth floor balcony overlooking the harbour and mt. etna. Location is brilliant about a hundred meters to the botanic gardens and within a short stroll of everything, from Taormina's main shopping street and restaraunts to the Greek ampitheatre and also just a short walk to the bus station.

Found most of the staff to be friendly and helpful, i say most, the woman serving breakfast.... actually kinda found it funny, comes across as very abrubt, it felt like we were disturbing her morning! Breakfast is basic to say the least, definitely would recommend you go somewhere else for breakfast.

Rooms also were fairly basic but at a budget price and with that stunning view from the fourth floor balcony it's hard to complain.

Probably wouldnt recommend it for a couple on a romantic break, you could find better for that. Taormina can be an expensive place to stay in so for a group of friends, travelling on a budget think it's a good place to stay, just get breakfast somewhere else!

Nice location, easy to clean rooms, very nice helpful staff. It is close to the old town. Price ratio is excellent. Parking is very convenient, but forecasters at the hotel for your parking needs to be solved somehow. Be sure to ask for a room overlooking the sea, the premium is not expensive.

Room Tip: upper level with a large terrace

The location of the hotel is nice and we've chosen it because of a (charged) parking facility.
The room was not good, there was a leak in the bathroom sink that was letting the towels wet and seemed that the there was no care at all with the place, everything seemed old.
The hotel itself was weird, for us to get to our room (1st floor), we had to get the elevator to the 2nd floor, then cross this stage to get down to 1st floor by an external ladder. I don't recommend it.

If you want to pay extra for everything necessary like airco €10pd, as a loner a better then a nunscell under the hotroof normal size room €90 pw, a better breakfast at the fantastic Bambar downtown €10 pd etc this is an okay hotel. So count €230 pw extra.. If you want to meet really nice guests who suffer the same misery, this is the right place. If you want to have a magnificent view from the terras late at night till you fall asleep Elios is a good place. I enjoy Taormina every year but the cheap hotels are hell. I choose Elios to be close to the filmfestival palace of congres and the view. If possible I'll be staying in Timeo the hotel of my dreams one day!

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in August 2012. The hotel's location is very practical being a short walking distance from Taormina's bus terminus, an even shorter walking distance from one of the main bus stops (tombe bizantine) and a popular pickup point for coach excursions. It is also very close to the City Centre's Corso Umberto yet located in the quieter Via Bagnoli Croci, away from the unbelievable crowd that flows through till the early hours of the morning.

Despite what some reviewers have said, the staff at the hotel were always very courteous, helpful and flexible not only during our stay but even before that when we contacted them by telephone a number of times prior to our stay. The staff is not large so a pleasant rapport is developed in a short time and this adds to the "family" feeling of the Hotel.

The room did have some shortcomings: the tv decoder did not work and the balcony shutter would not close completely so the early morning light could not be shut out when we wanted to sleep later into the morning. At times noise from the street below was a nuisance given that this is a city that keeps awake into the early hours of the morning and not all tourists know how to keep the noise down at night. These three factors aside, the room was clean and had all the necessary commodities. The airconditioning was most welcome after each day's sun battering in August. The little fridge allowed us to keep beverages cool. The bathroom was spacious, functional and with excellent water flow. We were provided with courtesy soap and shower gel besides the toilet rolls.

Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am in an airy and lovely open-air terrace (in Summer) on the second floor of the hotel. Some tables here have a relaxing panoramic sea view - but make sure you are early as they tend to be the first preference of the hotel guests - with good reason. The breakfast itself is adequate for this type of accommodation: tea or coffee, a glass of juice, a bread bun with a selection of jam / marmalade besides butter, a typical sicilian croissant and a vacuum packed toasted biscuit. Nutella is also available upon request.

The hotel also sports a roof terrace with splendid panoramic views of the sea, Mount Etna and the area below Taormina (Isola Bella, Giardini Naxos, Recanati).

All in all, we had a pleasant stay at Hotel Elios and would recommend it to anyone wanting to spend their holiday in this lovely (albeit very expensive) Sicilian city without breaking the bank.

Room Tip: Take a set of ear plugs with you just in case your room overlooks the street below (Via Bagnoli Croc...

Stayed in a room with a view of the ocean and mount Etna. I think it was well worth the extra money, as it is what makes this hotel special.

The location is good, the city park is close and you can easily walk to the bus station or down the path to Isola Bella beaches. The old town is also easily reached. Took me about five minutes to get to the old town.

The staff at reception where great, the staff who took care of breakfast could learn a bit more English and at least smile once in a while. The breakfast could also need a bit more variety, as the same menu was served five days in a row when I visited. The nice part about breakfast was that you got to order special coffey at no extra cost (americano, caffe latte, chocholate etc)

Wifi worked well in the reception.

Light sleepers will be disturbed by the traffic on the road in front of the hotel.
