We (my wife and I ) both thought that this Inspector Montalbano (TV series) tour was outstanding. We were taken from near our hotel in Taormina and visited the beautiful Piazza Duomo of Ragusa Ibla, with its Baroque church of San Giorgio, which represents the main square of Vigata, the imaginary village of Montalbano. We then went to San Giuseppe, Palazzo Donnafugata, Circolo Conversazione, where “Gli Arancini di Montalbano” and “The Scent of the Night” were filmed. We continued to Punta Secca (“Marinella” in the series) to visit the exterior of Montalbano's House and the beach where he used to swim. Our guide then took us for a self funded light lunch at a small cafe (Al Posto Giusto) the owner of which had played as an extra in 2 of the Montalbano films. The owner proved to be one of the most welcoming hosts that I have met anywhere. We then visited Donnalucata, the set of the episode “The shape of water”. We then continued to the village of Scicli visiting the beautiful historical centre called Montelusa in the series, then continued to the “Palazzo Comunale”, the Police station, and “Palazzo Iacono”, the Police headquarters. We were also able to visit “Montalbano’s office” and managed to sit at his desk for a photo opportunity. As good as this tour was, our guide Chris added to our experience by supplying in depth narrative not only to the Montalbano aspect of the tour but also gave us in depth information which covered a vast range of subjects in relation to this beautiful island of Sicily. This was one of the better, if not the best, tours we have experienced and was made all the better by our charismatic guide Chris.
