Good location 5 minutes walk from the centre of Taormina , so away from any noise. Amazing views accross the bay - we had a room with sea view and balcony so could make the most of it . The balconies are only separated by a low railing so not private , but worth it for the view.
The walk down to the swimming pool is not as steep as it looks, as it wings down through the gardens in stages , passing pomegranites, grapefruit and figs growing in the garden .
The pool itself was chilly in October , but a good size.
Staff very friendly ;and welcoming . We would recommend returning in the evening after dinner for a coffee on the terrace with that amazing view.

Comfortable and quiet hotel with a strategic location in beautiful Taormina, far away enough to escape from the crowds yet near enough to restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was abundant and rooms were surprisingly very spacious for Italy. The view of the bay was especially beautiful and unobstructed from the rooms on the top floors.

We booked with expedia and were a little confused by the hotel room descriptions, but we got the sea view balcony we had expected, however as another reviewer has said it was open to the rooms next door, separated only by a low railing, where a group of friends with their children had noisy pre-dinner drinks in the evening, destroying the tranquility of the evenings. (Can't blame the hotel for the bad manners of their guests though). The room was a very good size, and the bathroom, although having no bath, was a good size with a reasonable size shower, obviously recently refitted and clean and fresh. The view from the balcony is worth paying for. We knew that the pool was 182 steps down, (don't forget anything - it is a long climb up for the suncream) and had hoped this would put off families with small children, but it did not - to be fair it is not advertised as a child free zone. The pool area and gardens are lovely, but the mattresses on the sunbeds were very grimy and need replacing. During the day there is no bar in the main part of the hotel, as the bar staff move down to the pool, and we were disappointed that we could not just get a sandwich at lunchtime. The meals were all proper cooked, sit at table meals, which is far more than we wanted at lunchtime. The breakfast is a huge buffet with everything from cooked, to cakes in unlimited supply, so it was easy to take a roll down to the pool for lunch. The big disadvantage of this hotel is that no meals are served outdoors in the evening. They have a superb terrace area which could be laid up for evening service but it is only used as bar seating, and all evening meals are indoors, in air conditioned soulless comfort, and the gentlemen are required to wear long trousers! Unsurprisingly the restaurant was almost always empty in the evenings. Who wants to dress up to eat indoors when every other restaurant in Taormina has outdoor seating and a relaxed attitude. One great advantage is the position - as well as superb views the hotel is opposite the bus station so getting the bus from the airport was simple, and as all trips (to etna etc) start at the bus station it was very easy for us. The hotel were very obliging in laying up a basic breakfast for us if we had an early start - just ask at reception the day before.
Clean towels and good cleaning every day. Free Pool towels. Wi-fi in reception, and use of a computer in reception area for five euros for half an hour.

Room Tip: Check that you are getting a balcony, not just a sea view, as not all seaview rooms have a real balc...

We found the hotel fairly easily and parked the car (10 Euro per day) in their car park, the receptionist was helpful with the latter but otherwise didn't offer much information until asked (e.g. map of Taormina).

The hotel is within a very easy walk of Taormina so the local attractions (especially the amazing Greek theatre) and a number of good restaurants are easily accessible.

On the plus side:
- the hotel has a great pool (towels provided) with a bar area serving meals at lunchtime
- breakfast was fairly good with a fairly reasonable range of options
- the grounds were lovely and well cared for
- we had clean towels in the room every day
- the room was small but was OK with plenty of storage and a great patio area outside with good views

On the down side:
- the bathroom was terrible for a 4* hotel, there was no bath (which we didn't mind) but the showering facilities comprised a shower tray and a loose curtain which didn't reach the floor so water went everywhere and had to be mopped up with a towel. We've had better facilities in cheap apartments on the Greek islands.
- the 'bar' area comprised a table which served cocktails at high prices and wasn't very welcoming
- the cost was very high (£160 per night) for a modest room with a poor bathroom plus an Ok breakfast

On the whole we enjoyed our 3 nights in the hotel but we wouldn't return if only because of the bathroom facilities - why couldn't they just install a cubicle instead of a short curtain ? Surely it would be a very low cost option.

Room Tip: Some rooms do have a bath with shower - try to get one.

From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful. Our room (family) was well furnished with doors opening on to a beautiful balcony and spectacular view. I decided to try my hand at Sicillian cooking. The front desk suggested and arranged a lesson through Angelo, chef and owner of the lovely Pizzeria Porta Messina Restaurant. We loved the rambling garden and steps down to the pool, adding to the charm of the hotel.

Situated perfectly for bus station and funicular down to beaches. Lovely hotel with welcoming and helpful staff, especially the younger receptionists. Room of a good size, clean modern bathroom though the bedroom was more traditional. We paid extra for top floor with balcony, the view was exceptional. I would have preferred a balcony with partition walls rather than open railings for privacy. Some of the lower floor rooms had walled balconies and I feel the view would have been as good from them. The room next to our was occupied by a family with a noisy child, who we could hear clearly through the walls, when they left and older guests arrived no problems. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food on offer to suit all nationalities. 2 types of orange juice on offer, both fresh, try the red one, it was lovely. The pastries were crumbly and light, the lemon cake delicious. Cooked tomatoes really tasty and a lovely selection of cheeses and meats. Good attentive service. Range of newspapers available for all in reception area. Pleasant walk down through lovely gardens from lower floor of the hotel. Pool attendant very obliging setting up sunbeds and umbrellas to suit and providing complimentary towels. No rush to get down to the pool in early September, plenty of beds available. Bar area and lunch time snacks. Best views of the hotel and gardens are from the pool area, lovely setting with fantastic views. From the pool area you can access the hotel tennis court and also an easy pathway and steps down to Mazzaro and Isola Bella. We went down for lunch a couple of times and came back up via the funicular. Parking available at the hotel. Well situated off the main street but close enough for easy access. Easy walk into town, 5 mins to main street and 2 excellent restaurants on the same street, L'incontro and Trattoria Da Nino.

Room Tip: Recommend paying supplement for balcony for the view.
