Very good hotel
The rooms are clean and staff very helpful
Please note that there are lots of steps both at the hotel and to get up into the town, the return journey is all downhill. However this is compensated by the fantastic views from the hotel.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful garden setting built in to the side of a hill 7 minutes walk from the pretty town of Taormina. The hotel itself is very quaint and full of character. The staff are super helpful and we loved Sebastiano our friendly waiter who was always smiling and charming. The breakfast was buffet continental style and always fresh and plentiful. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace with beautiful views over the sea and neighbouring town below. The hotel is a quiet little haven. Sometimes difficult to get a drink at the bar as it isn't always open but so many places close by to eat and drink at this really wasn't a problem. We appreciated the unique quirkiness to be honest. They only serve dinner once a week and you have to pre book. At 30 euros for 3 courses it was well worth it and we found the food delicious and plentiful. The Grillo wine complemented the food and as an extra treat the owner of the hotel played the piano in the bar making it a night to remember. You do need reasonable fitness to navigate the steps up to town but we saw this as an opportunity to allow us to eat and drink the beautiful Sicilian food and wine without guilt! A beautiful hotel full of character! We would love to return!

Myself and my wife Julia stayed for a week in this family hotel and we loved it. I had done some research before we went and read a lot of the previous reviews.
We stayed in room 41 (the hotel has 41 rooms) which is separate from the hotel and very private. IT HAS A FRIDGE. (which is a must if you want to enjoy a cold drink on the terrace in the evening).
Our terrace had two sun loungers.
The room had a double shower (which was huge) and a king size bed. (which was very comfortable)
We spoke to other guests and no one seemed to have a fridge, and complained that their shower cubicle was very small.
From what we gleaned It is very much pot luck with the rooms. The ones with terraces are not private. Three or four rooms open out onto the terrace (which has a small table and two sun loungers per room)
The rooms with balconies are more private, but the balconies are very small and struggle to cope with the small table and two chairs (no where to sunbath).
The breakfast was continental with a good choice (a couple of odd items were tuna and a hot pasta dish, more suited to evening meal.
They only serve an evening meal on a Thursday (extra 30 euro's per person) and unfortunately we had to miss this as we were ascending Mount Etna for an evening meal on that day (130 euro;s, but worth every penny)
Anyone contemplating this hotel please be aware there are LOADS OF STEPS.!!!!
Because we were in room 41 which as I have said is separate from the hotel, we had to climb 80 steps to the dining room for breakfast.!!!! and then up another 30 to reception. Then you had either a set of stairs to the road or the step drive.
The walk into town was up hill (but worth it) and there was another 40 steps involved in this.!!!! SO, YOU NEED TO BE FAIRLY FIT.
We loved it and got used to the steps after the first couple of days.
I would recommend this hotel as long as you are fairly fit.

Room tip: Most rooms have a sea view. We stayed in room 41 and thought it was the best.

We have just had 4 nights in Taormina, Sicily staying at Hotel Bel Soggiorno. From checking in to departing at 04.40am for our flight from Catania, the staff could not have been more helpful at this delightful well-established hotel, situated on the steep hillside below Taormina. We had two early breakfast requests (5.30 am and 6.30 am) for day tours and the staff were very helpful with a personal tray arriving at our table with tea and coffee orders and personal requests.
We stayed in room 24, a huge suite/family room with fridge and sitting areas. We had not booked a large suite but were delighted and the sea views were magical from our large sun terrace. I suppose you might describe the building as 'faded glory' and we loved everything about it. It was atmospheric and full of exquisite ceramics and paintings, including a small cabinet on the wall outside our bedroom of 'Faberge' like small boxes and memorabilia. The famous ceramic 'faces' of Taormina were all around the hotel, adding charm.
The terraced garden is a joy, and there is a wonderful belvedere where you can enjoy sunset cocktails while enjoying the changing colours of fading light over Mount Etna. The garden has some exquisite plants and flowers.
The dining room has beautiful windows and stained glass, which all look out onto Naxos Bay below. The sea view from our bedroom Terrace, the dining room and the gard n were equally alluring.
Many reviews are critical of the hard climb up steps to Taormina. We didn't find this difficult at all, but I suppose you need a certain level of fitness.
Our only reservation was the weak pressure in our shower, which we felt was a small price to pay for such a delightful hotel.
We are visitors from Brisbane, Australia.

Room tip: Room 24 was most spacious with huge sun terrace
