Beautiful place, amazing breakfast, fantastic views and great pool! The staff was very nice and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay, that was great to be so closed to the cable station to go up to Taormina, one the most charming place I've ever seen

Just back from a wonderful week at The Bay Palace Hotel. We travelled with our two daughters, (20 and 23). A wonderful time was had by all. The hotel staff did their utmost to make our stay most pleasurable. The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. Rooms were done every day; The water pressure in the shower is terrific. A room to the sea is fabulous, but the girls were comfortable in their room as well. As we did not identify the electric plugs, staff came up and showed us all the plugs and there were plenty. A hard pillow was easily replaced with a much softer pillow - you just have to ask; Breakfast was plentiful and included lots of fresh fruit and amazing croissants in every flavor; The pool was clean and relaxing with a spectacular view. We enjoyed dinner one evening, a la carte, which was delicious and reasonably priced. Location was perfect for a walk to the beach/es nearby or to the cable car up to Taormina - a two minute ride; Mini-market and pharmacy are only a few steps away for anything you might need. Hotel staff assisted us in booking two day trips which included pick up and drop off at hotel. They also booked us a rental car for a day which was no easy chore as we preferred an automatic. They did not give up until they found us a car! In short, definitely a great hotel with fabulous staff who do their best to assist you in enjoying your stay in Sicily. Chapeaux to Giovanni, Phillipe (who speaks fluent English) and staff for making our holiday so special.

Room Tip: A room with a view to the Mediterranean will surely make the stay even more pleasurable - sunrise is...

A group of 12 people including 3 small children arrived at Bay Palace late in the evening. We were tired and our first impressions were not favourable because the parking situation was less then ideal. After some comforting words from Filippo, we settled in for the night. In the morning we awoke in a room with a view of the mountains that provided a perfect backdrop to the Mediterranean. We went to the restaurant for breakfast. We were greeted by a courteous staff and the wonderful aroma of fresh fruit and espresso coffee. Later when we went to the pool area we were surprised to see how beautiful it was. We spend the next week in and around Taormina.
Thanks to the staff of Bay Palace we had an amazing time there and if ever I am in Taormina I would have no problems going back to this beautiful place, but this time without a car.

Room Tip: Access to the hotel with a car is very tricky, It is best to take a taxi.

I had mixed feelings about this hotel, the reviews showed that some guests likes it while others just did not! On the whole we had a very good stay, the rooms were excellent, fantastic views. The amenities were good and the staff were helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and any empty trays were quickly replaced. You are only 6 minutes walk from the cable car and if you don't feel like the cable ride up to Taormina there are alot of good restaurants on the waters'edge to choose from. One bit of advise, if you intend to swim in the Isola Bella area take rubber shoes and if you are up to it, organise your own tour schedule, the busses are excellent and very regular.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view. There is adaquate free wifi in the reception ara

Just completed a week at this hotel in July 14. Having read the reviews people either like it or hate it, we liked it.

The first experience was arriving in our hire car and trying to get parked. The drive is narrow and steep and the smell of slipping clutches could often be smelt. The so called argry man helped me park my car as I am not good reversing a left hand drive car. If you are hiring a car and staying here try to get something small. We had a Fiat 500 (it got knocked twice while we were there but the hire company didnot fine us). Parking is a pain so avoid driving into the bigger towns, use the train.

The room sizes do differ, we had a larger room on the 2nd floor with a sea view. The room had a hard bed and flat pillow, a wardrobe with little shelving, tv with no english speaking channels but Midsummer Murders was on every night in Italian. There was an A/C unit but would only run for about 30 minutes unless you set it into sleep mode.

There is Wifi available at cost in the rooms but it is free in reception, we found it OK for checking the news and e-mails.

The bathroom has all the general ammenities and the shower was good with plenty of hot water.

Breakfast served in the ground floor dinning room had a good spread of breads, meats, cheese, boiled eggs, yoghurt and fruit. There was tea and coffee but if you like decent tea, take your own teabags. There is also a fruit juice machine offering 3 watery fruit drinks.

Dinner was served on the 3rd floor terrace near the pool. Dinner is typical Italian generally starting with a pasta or rice dish, followed by a piece of meat or fish with one veg concluding with a cake or fruit dessert. The food is not great but adequate. Drinks are extra, we had a jug of wine each night which was €5 for half a litre of either red, white or rose. There are 3 choices of starter and 2 choices of main either fish or meat.

We don't do beaches but there are some local ones in walking distance.

The cable car upto Taormina is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and it generally goes every 15 minutes sometimes more often if it is busy. If you are nervous it only takes 2 minutes end to end.

Taormina is a nice little place with lots of cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. There is an amphitheatre, gardens and lovelly views of Mount Etna.

About 3 miles from the hotel there is the railway station where you can get trains to Messina, Catania and Syracusa. There are trains to Etna base but not sure from where.

If you want a nice place to drink, in the middle of the car park at the bottom of the cable car is an old ticket office now converted into a bar and run by Massimo who is probably the nicest Italian I have ever met. Tell him Hi from the Guy that looks after Jay Kays heating.

Finally the so called angry man, we found him to be pleasant, friendly and helpful. If you want to take items to your room like wine or water be discrete and hide it in backpacks or hand bags then hide it during the day out of the fridge. We had a kettle, milk, water and wine and kept it all week.

Don't go there with dread, look forward to it, it is a nice place.

Room Tip: You need a room with a sea view.

Having read the mixed reviews, we weren't sure what to expect. Overall, however, we couldn't fault the hotel and were very impressed.

Staff were very hospital, in particular the manager was very welcoming. The hotel is in a good location, very close to the beach, supermarket and the funicular to take you to the town (which is stunning).

Views from the hotel are stunning. I would highly recommend paying for a room with a sea view, so you can wake up every morning and appreciate this.

The room was very spacious and very clean. Complimentary air-conditioning, very comfortable beds and fresh towels daily, along with a mid week bedding change. The brand new fridge was a god-send too.

Wi-fi in reception was very fast, although it doesn't work in the rooms - but who wants to spend their time on the internet when Taormina is such a fabuolous place to visit.

Pool was spotlesssly clean and a fairly decent size, compared to other hotels in the area.

Would highly recommend the hotel and Taormina.

Room Tip: I would pay extra for a room with a sea view, as it is stunning. Brand new fridge in the room - exc...

We had the privilege of spending 4 nights in Bay Palace hotel in the beginning of May 2014. We found this hotel pleasant, clean, great atmosphere, beautiful view, staff very kind and ready to help, and good food (half board).

Room Tip: It is a great value for money, and Taormina is no doubt the most beautiful place in Sicily. We hope...
