The price was so good that we didnt expect the very pleasant experience that we had. Yes it is a hike to get to and we actually climbed up the old track from the station to the town before we went up to the hotel. It keeps you fit and develops the appetite if you are up to it.The view was perfect and unexpected as our booking said "a view of the garden or the Med" but I think all the rooms view Etna. Yes the room fittings were functional but quite adequate tho, I haven,t slept under blankets for years! Elena was helpful and friendly and the very acceptable breakfasts were served very pleasantly. It is quaint and full of character and we loved it . It is to be enjoyed for what it is.

Treated very well by very nice owners and staff. (Family opporated)
Very quaint, older gem of a place. A fair walk to centre due to all the stairs but there is a shuttle bus at the front door for those who don't need to excercise. Restaurant and service was very good. The view of the gulf and Mt. Etna was stunning.
We were upgraded to a lovely room with a terrace. Most rooms seemed to have the same amazing view.
Loved it.

The best part of this hotel is the view from the restaurant and the rooms. You need a car to stay here. The walk to town is easy down hill, but coming back it is not easy. Part of the charm is the unusual construction on the B&B perched on the hill. Rooms are small especially if you book for a triple or quad. It's the same room with more beds. Parking is on the street which is adequate. Breakfast was better than most with good Italian bread, fruit, cereal, milk, salami and more. With the view, it was very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Stay in town if you have short amount of time. Several nights here would be hard.

The room furnishings are dated but clean and roomy (ours was a "superior double"). No in-room ammenities aside from a tiny TV (who cares?), a hair dryrer, soap, shampoo, towels, linens, pillows (xtra pillows and linens in the closet). A small balcony that provides a wonderful view overlooking Taoromina, the bay, and Etna. Free bus service takes you to the beach (3 pick-ups in the morning and 3 in the afternoon). The beach fee is 7 euro per person - this includes a welcoming fruit drink, an umbrella, towels if needed and a beach recliner. Breakfast was routine but enough to get you moving -- although a menu was offered once, I never saw it again after the first day. The price was very reasonable but as everyone has mentioned the STEPS can't be ignored! It's great exercise! (That's the nicest thing I can say). Not so much at 1:00 in the morning after a concert at the Teatro Greco, but hey... you can get a taxi if you need it. Also be aware the hotel itself is multi-tiered and there are a lot of steps inside it as well - this is NOT a handicap friendly hotel in any manner. To end on a good note, the price was very reasonable, the staff was very helpful, the beach was our second home and the food, wine and local population can't be beat - screw the steps! It's worth it!

The hotel is really run down, the food is bad and there is basically no service. I cannot recommend this hotel at all.

The room was not very clean and the bed falling apart. The shower was so small you almost cannot enter and the shower handle was broken. The first evening there was no hot water at all. The breakfast was very poor and small- No glass was available in the room. Service was ok but nothing particular.
