I stayed at Villa Astoria for a week while at a conference. This may not be the most luxurious hotel in Taormina, but is must be the most hospitable.
Mauro, the owner, was super helpful with dinner & drinks suggestions, getting taxis (and retrieving a receipt I initially forgot) and so on.

We were traveling around Sicily for two weeks and booked five different B&Bs and those 4 nights we spend in Villa Astoria were absolutely the best. Fantastic location close to lovely restaurants and fantastic vine bar..., cable car which leads you to the beach just few steps away, delicious breakfast including ham, cheese, fruit and nice coffee and what's the best in this place and make it diffrent is Mauro who will make you feel very special.

What an amazing stay we have had in this Villa / B&B. Service was more than great and we had a nice room with a small balcony at the front of the hotel. You can park your car secured behind a railing which will cause you no troubles finding a parking place! The reason why our stay was so memorable was the owner of the hotel: Mauro! His hospitality and kindness was absolutely fabulous. He recommended restaurants where true Italian food was served. He arranged our excursion to the Etna which took him some efforts. He was supportive all the time althought he was very busy with running the hotel as we visited Toarmina in one of the busiest weeks of the year and it was very hot :-). We were treated like family and one night we were even invited to have a dinner with him and his family at a stunning roof terrace restaurant overlooking Toarmina, the coast line and in the background the tremendous Mount Etna. At the moment we checked out we felt we said goodbye to friends. Grazie mille Mauro,
Francesca, Marco, Mama, Prince & the cat and of course Daniele! Hope to see you soon!

Villa Astoria is one of nine hotel/B&Bs my husband and I booked for our driving trip in Southern Italy. We spent two nights at Villa Astoria and our stay started with a warm welcome from Mauro. He helped orient us to the town and local sites. He also made a great restaurant recommendation. Room was clean and comfortable and had balcony that faced the ocean. The breakfast was served on front patio and had fresh HOT bread and fresh fruit with cheese and meats. Rather than take a tour of Mt Etna, Mauro oriented us so we could drive ourselves. He also made sure we had instructions for getting the ferry in Messina to Calabria. Very helpful and patient with us.

Without doubt the most welcoming family I've had the pleasure of staying with, Mauro (the big 'O' as he's affectionately known) and Francesca made this trip one I'll never forget, they couldn't do more to help, ideally located a minutes walk from the main street, it's the perfect place to stay. A traditional Sicilian building with a beautiful relaxing garden, with unbelievable views.. I'd highly recommend this place to anybody going to Sicily. Villa Astoria è Magnifico!!

We liked about everything about this place, begining with the warm and helpful owner Mauro, ho helped us with restaurants recomendations and booking, and also gave tips of what to do and how. We had wonderful views of Taormina and the sea, and the room was big and very clean, the bathroom would benefit from un update, but not enough to disturb our trip. The fresh capuccino in the morning was very good, but I was longing for a menu variation in breakfast, prosciutto crudo and another kind of cheese woud've been nice, but it was just me. My husband and the other couple we were travelling with were very satisfied. It was a marvellous 5 days trip to Taormina, and we would very much like to return! One tip: don't forget to book the place to park in advance! Thanks again Mauro!

Room Tip: Ask for sea view, it is worth it!

Villa Astoria was one of five hotels that I booked for 6 of us traveling 17 days across Italy, Sicily and Malta. I originally chose it because of the location as we were only going to be spending a few days in Taormina and wanted to quickly access a bus for day trips. It turned out to be the best choice as it was so easy to walk into town or to grab a bus ride to go to Castel Mola and to the Gole Alacantra Gorge. We also secured a bus ride to the airport in Catania from the bus terminal across the street. Not only was it so simple and easy to move around from that location but we also all agreed that the accommodations were wonderful. Although the rooms were very old fashioned, they were spotless, fresh and very comfortable. The AC worked fantastic and once the windows were closed at night, the rooms were very sound proof. We all slept great. In the morning it was a delight to be pampered by Mauro the owner as he served us a lovely breakfast outside in the courtyard under a beautiful tree. Everything was delicious and got us off to a great start. Mauro is a funny guy and very entertaining. He has a way of making you feel so welcome and is ready to answer all questions and to recommend awesome places to dine. He is the shining star of Villa Astoria. I was so happy with our accommodations there-the location, the cleanliness and the price-would highly recommend.
