We did quite a lot of travelling in Italy for 2 and a half weeks, so stayed in a few hotels, and this was definitely the disappointing one. I have never actually written a negative review, but I do want to point some things out if you are thinking of booking this hotel.
One of the reception staff is actually quite rude, unfortunately we had a problem with the television in the room as soon as we checked in and the maintenance man was sent down to have a look and declared it broken and needed to be fixed. Day 2 of our stay and still not fixed, to be told by the man on reception 'sorry' in a tone that was not sorry at all. No offer to change rooms, to make our stay more enjoyable, nothing! His attitude was terrible. Day 3 arrived and asking a DIFFERENT man on reception about the tv, he actually called the maintenance and asked them to come immediately.
There is NO IRON available. When requesting an iron at reception so we could iron some very wrinkled clothes for dinner, were told it was an external service and we could not do it ourselves. This was the first hotel in Italy we encountered where this was not available.
Not exactly a four star hotel experience in my opinion, we had a classic double room ( one up from the standard) and it was fine, but not amazing. Small things like towels were the kind you would get at the Premier Inn ( in UK). Hardly any information in the room folders, no restaurant menu or bar menu or information about area or beaches. Although you can request a map from reception and we found out upon checking out there was actually a shuttle service down to the beach. What I am trying to say is you are not told a lot about anything, you have to figure it out yourself and we stopped wanting to ask the unfriendly man at reception things, as he made us feel uncomfortable.
The rooms are very clean and housekeeping staff friendly and good at their jobs. Breakfast staff are also lovely and the breakfast was fantastic, loads of choice. Good view from balcony and throughout hotel.
So that is why I am giving this hotel an average mark, as it felt average. I recommend maybe trying a smaller boutique hotel in Taormina, please feel free to message me, as I had a look around where most of them were situated etc.
