We did quite a lot of travelling in Italy for 2 and a half weeks, so stayed in a few hotels, and this was definitely the disappointing one. I have never actually written a negative review, but I do want to point some things out if you are thinking of booking this hotel.

One of the reception staff is actually quite rude, unfortunately we had a problem with the television in the room as soon as we checked in and the maintenance man was sent down to have a look and declared it broken and needed to be fixed. Day 2 of our stay and still not fixed, to be told by the man on reception 'sorry' in a tone that was not sorry at all. No offer to change rooms, to make our stay more enjoyable, nothing! His attitude was terrible. Day 3 arrived and asking a DIFFERENT man on reception about the tv, he actually called the maintenance and asked them to come immediately.

There is NO IRON available. When requesting an iron at reception so we could iron some very wrinkled clothes for dinner, were told it was an external service and we could not do it ourselves. This was the first hotel in Italy we encountered where this was not available.

Not exactly a four star hotel experience in my opinion, we had a classic double room ( one up from the standard) and it was fine, but not amazing. Small things like towels were the kind you would get at the Premier Inn ( in UK). Hardly any information in the room folders, no restaurant menu or bar menu or information about area or beaches. Although you can request a map from reception and we found out upon checking out there was actually a shuttle service down to the beach. What I am trying to say is you are not told a lot about anything, you have to figure it out yourself and we stopped wanting to ask the unfriendly man at reception things, as he made us feel uncomfortable.

The rooms are very clean and housekeeping staff friendly and good at their jobs. Breakfast staff are also lovely and the breakfast was fantastic, loads of choice. Good view from balcony and throughout hotel.

So that is why I am giving this hotel an average mark, as it felt average. I recommend maybe trying a smaller boutique hotel in Taormina, please feel free to message me, as I had a look around where most of them were situated etc.

Although the hotel is in a great location and has wonderful views, this hotel is not for you if you actually want to sleep. You could hear every single noise from people above and next door. You could hear people speaking, walking, closing doors, etc. Also, the rooms were extremely small and cramped. If you stay here, ask to be in a room on the right side of the elevator because the views are better.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in a room to the right of the elevator on floors 4 or 5.

What a view, breathtaking, from the lobby, the rooms, the breakfast room, straight out to the sea. This is a modern, comfortable well appointed hotel and the best things about the room were the size and comfort of the beds/pillows, in fact my friend and I have never slept better. A few downsides...as others have said and now I understand, the balconies are solid concrete, blocking the view to the sea, but I understand the design concept, especially looking down from the reception/lobby on the top floor to the rooms below going down to the pool at the lowest level. There was no fan in the bathroom and sometimes the fluorescent lights were very slow to become bright enough to see yourself in the mirror. Housekeeping comes by pretty late, from 11-2pm and because my friend was in the room at 2pm the first day, we missed the service that day. They also didn't replace the empty tissue box that I left out for them. The tub faucet/hand held fixture is seriously in the way when you're taking a shower, not a great design. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and from 7-11, the longest hours I've seen, and fully stocked the whole time, with made to order eggs and bacon. My favorite were the homemade yogurt muffins and croissants. Service was excellent and the variety and quality of the food was one of the best I've ever experienced in a 4 star hotel, definitely a highlight. The pool attendant is a gem, takes his job seriously and wants to make everyone happy, the best attendant ever. The reception staff was friendly and very helpful when we had requests and they loaned us towels to go to the beach at Mazzaro (a great day on the beach taking the cable car down). It's easy to reach the town, just a few steps up the hill and perfectly situated for the sea view and town/beach access. I made a change to the reservation the day before with the reception staff and they handled it perfectly. A fantastic experience and I will definitely stay there again, the best value 4 star hotel in Taormina.

Room Tip: it's worth getting a sea view!

This hotel would only be a problem for those with really bad knees and/or have trouble getting around, as almost everything is up and down steep hills, including the hotel itself. The hotel does have a shuttle that will run you up the short but very steep driveway and that lets you off at the top of it, but then you still have to walk up steep curving hills to get to the main street, which is flat (you could take a cab I guess). The location is wonderful, a short (uphill) but lovely walk to the center of the charming town of Taormina. Once you've done the town to your satisfaction it's wonderful to relax by the gorgeous pool. Pool staffers make you comfortable by helping you with your chairs and umbrellas and there is a place to have a limited lunch right off the pool. We walked to town, stuffed ourselves with pizza, arancini and granite (don't miss the granite at the Bam Bar!!), and then walked back and relaxed by the pool. It was just perfect and we hated for it to end. The reception staff were a tiny bit chilly but still efficient and accommodating. The breakfast food and selection was impressive. It's a serve yourself atmosphere; little to no interaction from the staff, they just keep cleaning tables and turning them. Carmella was a bright spot in the morning in the dining room; she was sweet, pleasant and helpful. Our room was wonderful - gorgeous view with a balcony overlooking the pool and the water beyond. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel; it seemed pricey and there were many great places to eat in town and on the way to town. There was a beautiful Villa Comunale (park) right next to the hotel. Be sure to check it out. The pillows were way too soft for my liking and I ended up with a neck ache which is why I rated the sleep quality average. The beds themselves were comfortable.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view and a balcony, you won't be sorry it's worth the extra expense.

This Hotel is in a wonderful location as long as you are good on your feet, the walk up the hill to the road is very steep (so the journey down is steep) but well worth it.
On arrival unfortunately we were dissapointed with the room.. No sea view(paid extra for) (trees in the way) you had to look to the right around the trees & no sun would get on the balcony, for the price we had paid we felt a bit let down so we went to reception to ask if we could be moved (knowing they would say that they were full). There we met a pleasent looking lady who doesnt think english people know any Italian,Lets just say she turned to her friend and sarcastically said they cant get any sun on the balcony after trying to look like she had looked she said "CANT MOVE IT WILL BE THURSDAY AT THE EARLIEST".....Trust me i dont ever moan about things but the holiday was part of Kims birthday and we wanted everything just so, and as i have mentioned it was not a cheap room we had paid for.
So we had to stay put even when Thursday came around there was no offer to move.
The rooms are spotless & clean but i feel the fixtures need a bit of updating.. A wonderful choice at breakfast with great attentive staff.. The pool is possibley the most relaxing place on the planet, pool attendants have a great pride in making you HAPPY !!!! (maybe they should work on reception) A nice touch from the hotel on Kims birthday a nice cold bottle of bubbly turned up at the door a real treat & suprise !!!! All in we had a good time enjoying the view from the pool and soaking up the great location to get to the town... But beware of Sarcastic Woman on reception....

Room Tip: Dont except room 218 or 220 if you want sunshine with a view... Somtimes i wonder if these are mainl...

This hotel is in a perfect location looking out to sea yet a few minutes walk to all that Taormina has to offer. It is contemporary in style and very bright and airy. We travelled with Thomsons and it seems that all rooms booked through them are the wrong side of the lift. This was not a problem for us because we at least had a room on the top floor. The bedding was changed twice in a fortnight. Breakfast was average. The pool attendant was exceptional. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you have a choice a room to the right of the left is best.
