Excellent housing above Taormina

We stayed for one night at Hotel Villa Ducale above Taormina in April 2019 and wished the holiday had lasted for many more days. Excellent facilities, service, food at the restaurant, and a magnificent view both of Mt Etna and the Mediterranean Sea!

best hotel in Sicily

Just returned from 2 week trip to Sicily. Loved entire island. Highlight was Taormina, Great town and great hotel. Small family owned hotel up hill overlooking city. Great views of city, sea and Mt. Etna. Owner, Rosaria, is often there, manager and staff are great. Food is excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Free shuttle down to town and back. You will feel like family after just a few hours there. Mt Etna is a must visit.

Yes the views at Villa Ducale are astonishing, all of the Luxury Deign Suites in our annex offer views all the way across the sea to mainland Italy with a breathtaking sunrise and the sea, then from the Dining area and from the new terrace with loungers and chairs you can enjoy a totally different prospective with beautiful sunsets behind Etna.

A rewarding stay

We had a nice room facing the sea with a magnificent terrasse. However, we were not able to use the terrasse because of the weather which was rather cool and rainy.
We missed, however, chairs in the room which is due to the fact that the bed is probably too big for the size of the room.
the people are charming and very helpful. We forgot a jacket in the cupboard and it had been re-shipped within a few days. Very good, indeed.

Room tip: it should book the garage prior arrival because the number of places are very limited.

Great stay

This was a brilliant hotel experience. The Design Suite in the annex building is a great room.

The welcome was great. The breakfast is brilliant with a really stunning view. With the complimentary shuttle bus, it is definitely the right choice to stay up the hill when in Taormina. Though there is a walkway down the side of the monastery that is a nice walk.

Hopefully can get back for longer the next time.

Also thanks for sorting the iPad out. We really will be back.

Simply amazing

As mentioned in the other reviews, the views from the hotel are just outstanding... Etna looms in the distance while the rest of Taormina and its environs are laid out before you. The welcome is friendly and warm and we truly felt as if we were in a home away from home. Breakfast was delicious. For runners, Castelmola is just 2.5km jog uphill and the views there are even more stunning. We walked down to the town everyday; if there is any improvement, it might be to increase the frequency of the shuttle service. Otherwise we had a wonderful time. Thank you!
