We chose the vintage500 tour as a fun alternative to a classic tour around Taormina, and we sure did have a great time! Our guide, Christy who speaks both superb English and Italian (as well as several other languages...) was so knowledgable, not only about Sicily but also about our home country, history, geography, art and culture. It was a pleasure to drive the old cars (though in excellent shape) through the picturesque surroundings, and it only took a few minutes to get the hang of it.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to try something new, or, of course, to try something they haven't in a while..

We had originally booked an Alpha Romeo Spider converable, but then found this trip and through it would be so much fun....we were right!

We spent 3 nights in stunning Toarmina in Febuary 2011. On our first morning in town, we were met by Antonio and Danilo, of 500 Vintage Tours, at our hotel with our own 1971 Fiat 500 ready and waiting for us. After a brief lesson on driving this tiny car and a few crunching gear changes later, we were zipping along down the hairpin bends out of Toarmina and onto the Godfather Tour. The tour took us to relevant places from the film, for example Bar Vitelli and the church where Michael married.....

The trip was a good 3 1/2 hours and we would imagine it being extra fun during the summer months once the holiday season picks up. They have a fleet of ten Fiat 500s and so a train of the cars meandering the hairpins would have been extremely cool to see.

Great memory to bring home from our trip to Sicily...

Lisa & Tim

Our tour guide was wonderful, took us to a great winery "Gambino" we had an assortment of small plates and tasted 4 different wines, showed us how they make there wine, took us around the town stopped in a little cafe where the locals hang out. The car was in excellent condition and lots of fun. One of our best tours in Italy. Highly recommend it.

We spent a week in Sicily in September 2010 and intended to do some traveling around the island, so looked at rental cars for the week. I'm not sure how we stumbled upon the 500 Vintage Tour website but the idea of renting a classic car for the week was so much more appealing than renting a modern car from a run-of-the-mill rental company.

We sent a query via the website and a couple of days later received a reply and quote for the week. It was €560 for the car, full tank of petrol with unlimited mileage for the week, and we could pick-up and drop-off at Catania airport. This is a similar price to renting a modern Alfa Romeo 156 (or similar) with one of the more established car companies.

The car has drawbacks, for sure. The battery died fairly early in the week, as a result it required the odd push-start or to be parked on a hill. It’s tiny. On a day of heavy rain it leaked a little bit under the steering wheel. The safety belts are only for show. The lights and wipers might only be for show too… but despite the faults we instantly fell in love with our little car and there were few if any moments while driving where there wasn’t a big childish grin on my face, especially when navigating the stunning Sicilian coastal roads with the seemingly never-ending supply of hairpin turns.

The local people we met along the way loved the fact that we’d gone for a ‘classic’ rather than a modern car, and were all happy to help with the push starts if required.

Highly recommended!!

Driving around the villages and slopes of Mount Etna in a classic little Fiat 500 was a joy... using the non-synchro gearbox brought back rusty double de-clutching skills not used for many years! Danilo was a knowledgeable, but unobtrusive guide, who led us to various delightful spots, culminating in a superb wine-tasting at the Gambino vineyard. Recommended without qualification.
