“Excelent hotel in Taormina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

Excellent luxury hotel with only 10 rooms. Staff is very friendly and dedicated. The hotel is in Taormina Ciampoli castle in front of the Duomo, a church of the XIII century. The scenery is stunning: oceanfront view and Etna volcano with its lava at night . The rooms are large and comfortable, elegant and spacious bathroom. The chef of the restaurant offers stunning food, delicate and exquisite.
If you go by car you should park in the public parking in Taormina located about three blocks from the hotel and you must call the hotel to go get your bags

We just got back from a three night stay at El Jebel and it was fantastic! We had to come out of season as we were planning our wedding for September in Taormina, but you would never have guessed as the staff and service was fantastic! The hotel is perfectly located on the main street in Taormina with a short walk down to the local shops, churches and restaurants! The hotel is modern with a Moroccan theme, and only has 12 rooms so has that very personal boutique feel. Breakfast is a buffet but you can order eggs etc off the menu and the dinner was delicious!! The rooms are clean and spacious-my only small negative is the Bed-it was like sleeping on concrete! Room service was always very quick and efficient!
We will definitely be recommending this hotel to our guests to stay in September!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We stayed at Taormina for a single night, booking in advance at El-Jebel. The hotel is beautiful from the inside. We stayed in a room which had a nice Sicilian-Baroquian style with a great care to details.

On arrival, the staff requested for me and my life-partner's passports. Noticing that she had her birthday that day, they treated us with a free aperitifs to our room. A really nice gesture.

All in all, the day we spent at El-Jebel was one of the best days of our trip.

It is highly recommended to all visitors in Taormina.

This is a fabulous small boutique hotel in Taormina. It is set back a bit from the street, so while you are right in the heart of things, you don't feel swept up witht the crowd. The room and bathroom was quite large and nicely decorated. Free WIFI and amazing breakfasts were also great. The rooftop terrace has a lovely view of the city and Mt. Etna (which made it very interesting to watch as it was erupting one night.)
The staff is very nice and friendly. A big thank you to Evelyne who worked in the breakfast room, she is an absolute gem and an asset to any company. She went out of her way to make sure that everything was wonderful.
I wouldvery highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay there again.

We stayed 2 nights in December. The staff is really nice and helpful. We were upgraded to a junior suite but still the rooms are rather small and so was the closet. There is a fabulous panoramic roof terrace from where we could see the city and the vulcano. Breakfast is very good. Wifi works well and is free. The rooms are very well decorated. We would have appreciated a night table on both sides of the bed instead of one, and the same for the light buttons.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of October and have a wonderful stay. The hotel is in the perfect spot, right in the middle of the old town, but set back just enough that you feel out of the hustle and bustle when in your room. We stayed on the 2nd floor with a sea view. Our room was a little on the small side compared to other 5* hotels we've stayed at, but perhaps to be expected as it is a small boutique hotel. There was a good selection at breakfast with a combination of sweet pastries, breads, cereals, fruit, juices, cold meats & cheeses plus your choice of cooked breakfast to order (eggs, bacon, sausages etc). All the staff we met were charming and friendly - from our first few email exchanges through to the end of our stay.

Taormina itself is a great spot. Isola Bella is beautiful and worth the walk down to this stunning little cove (there is a cable car for 3EUR pp each way if your knees can't take it!). We also visited the amphitheater (we felt it was a bit pricey at 8EUR pp just to walk around) and gardens which were pleasant. In terms of excursions, we did a day trip to Etna with SAT. In hindsight, I probably would have organised this separately and gotten the bus instead, as we didn't feel we got much value for our money by going via a tour company. That's what we did when visiting the Alcantara Gorge (the bus terminal is a 15 min walk from the hotel), which was just stunning.

We flew into Catania airport and instead of booking a taxi through the hotel, we just got one from the taxi rank as we had read that this would be cheaper. It's not! The rate from the airport is 110EUR (and it's displayed on an official board at the taxi rank), whereas the hotel offers a transfer for 95EUR.

In terms of eating out, you have a great selection of restaurants all within walking distance of the hotel. Our favourite was Bar Trattoria which was just across the road and had a live musician every evening - relaxed atmosphere and the meatballs are worth a try - we went back twice! However it's worth mentioning that if you're looking for a place with great nightlife, this is not the place for you. If you're after good food, wine and an interesting mix of sites to see, then you can't go wrong.

As we went at the end of the October, there were still a few tourists around but you could tell it was coming to the end of the season. Luckily the weather was still warm (t-shirts and sundresses) and there were also people swimming. I think either September or October would be the best times to go, as I imagine this small town would get far too crowded during the summer months.

Thank you El Jebel for a great stay - highly recommended!

Our suite was beautiful. Stunning views of the sea and Etna. Excellent breakfast. This is a small boutique hotel (9 rooms I think) - don't expect the range of facilities you would find in a bigger 5* establishment. Charming service from Evelyne and Saroj. Highly recommended.
