“Sicily Life Tours”
Reviewed May 5, 2011

Deciding we didn't need the extra stress of trying to navigate country roads and city traffic, we opted to hire the professional drivers of Sebastian's crew at Sicily Life to ferry us in comfortable town cars to Erice/Segesta, Villa Amerina/Caltigirone, and Noto/Ragusa/ Modica. The drivers are all professional licensed drivers, showed up on time, dropped us off at the key places, waited for our return on our timetable, recommended places for lunch, stopped at the best viewing points, and made visiting multiple sights in a single day a breeze. While the drivers give a general overview, they are not (and don't claim to be) professional guides, so do not expect them to walk you through the sites and give you a detailed tour. You need to be prepared with your own guidebook if you want an in depth briefing (or hire a guide on site). The price for each of the above tours ran 260 to 300 euro for 2 adults, but it is worth it compared to the cost of car rental, gas, insurance and the lack of parking and difficulty of navigating old 1 way Sicilian streets.

“Teriffic Sicilian Experience (with KIDS)!!”
Reviewed March 30, 2011

Based on the reviews of Trip Advisor, I decided booked our airport/hotel transfers (Catania - Taormina) along with some tours with Sicily Life before leaving London.

Our party included my wife and two daughters (1 & 5 years old). From the moment we were received at the airport by Alessandro, to the time we were dropped back at the end of our holiday by Sebastiano, we had an amazing time with them.

Domenico took us on the Mount Etna trip which was my daughter's favourite. We also took the Godfather/Sicilian village tour with Gianvito which made the trip absolutely memorable for my wife, for whom this holiday was a gift from me. Gianvito even looked after our daughters for a short time(who were asleep in the car) whilst me and my wife took a quick stroll to the Duomo in Castlemola!!!

All the guys were punctual, spoke English well, but most importantly, they were extremely passionate and knowledgeable about their land, culture and history of Sicily - making the trips a real insight into Sicilian life. On top of that, they were very friendly and accommodating with our children!

Our DEEPEST thanks to all of you for making our holiday a memorable one; and for your tips on food and restaurants! We hope to return to Sicily in the future and would love to use your company once again!

Best Regards

“Memorable Sicilian vacation in Agrigento and Taormina”
Reviewed December 31, 2010

Hello Sebastiano,

We just wanted to say Thank You for the excellent service your company provided to us during our stay in Sicily.

Your drivers were prompt and very courteous and the airport pick-up in Palermo and drop-off in Catania went very smoothly. Your vans were very comfortable for the 4 of us and our luggage.

Our one-day-tour of Sicily from Palermo to Taormina (with stops in Castelvetrano and Agrigento) was very enjoyable.
Our guide Antonio was very friendly and informative. We would like to mention that he went above and beyond the call of duty to please us.
You have a good man there. Please give him our regards.

Our half-a-day Godfather tour with Alessandro was very enjoyable as well.

We would highly recommend your services to anyone. Choosing your company to tour Sicily was certainly the right decision.
Thank you for making our Sicilian experience so enjoyable and memorable!
We look forward to some additional sightseeing of Sicily with you guys.

Thanks again for everything.

“Our excellent day with Sicily Life Tours”
Reviewed December 30, 2010

My friend Mary-Lou reserved the Erice - Segrada tour with Sicily Life for Dec 7, 2010 for our group of friends. Silvano was our driver. He was so friendly and fun to do the tour with. When we weren't in awe of what we were touring, we were laughing. We had such a wonderful day on that tour. Silvano is an excellent driver who made it his mission to show us a great tour. I liked that he spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable about everything he showed us. He made sure we saw as much as we could and still make it back to our ship on time in spite of road construction and traffic jams. We actually laughed all the way back to the ship. In the end, all 8 of us had a great time and we would definitely use Sicily Life again if we were ever to go back to Sicily.
So, my review of our tour with Sicily Life rates a gradeof A+++. I'm so glad Mary-Lou chose Sicily Life for our one day in Sicily.

“A wonderful way to tour Mt. Etna.”
Reviewed November 24, 2010

My wife and I had arrived at our hotel in Taormina after a lousy day spent waiting at the Napoli train station followed by a less-than-restful night train ride. We had 30 minutes to clean up and get ready for our day trip to Mt. Etna. We had been looking forward to this personal tour for a while (we'd reserved the "Classic Etna Experience" day trip about one month prior), but were both so tired at this point that we'd fallen into "let's just get this over with" mode.

Our young driver and guide arrived and cheerily greeted us. He was so friendly and enthusiastic that we immediately felt better and started to share in his excitement over the upcoming tour. It was a comfortable car and he was a good driver - important because my wife doesn't do so well as a passenger around twisty roads when the driver thinks he's Mario Andretti (in other words, when I'm driving).

Corrado had grown up in Taormina and was justifiably proud of the town and surrounding area. He talked with us about its history...and I don't mean lectured us or recited it from a handbook. As with the rest of the trip, he discussed the topic of interest with us in a way that really drew us in. He had traveled extensively so had a very worldly perspective on the area, but he also seemed to love meeting new people and was able to make the history very real to us by relating it to our own experiences. He's a gifted tour guide and is doing exactly what he ought to be doing for a living.

He took us to the base of Etna and showed us some of the effects of previous flows as we drove through small towns. We drove up to where one of the most recent flows had stopped. He had us get out of the car and walk up to see it, pointing out interesting geological features in the surrounding area. From there, he took us to a shop where they made honey and soap on-premise. They also had wine made nearby along with several other gourmet food items. It made for a nice personal touch to sample all of these things and appreciate the significance of where they came from.

We drove up the mountain, and Corrado took us to a place where we could get out and walk around a bit. He left us to explore on our own for about a half-hour, which was quite nice. On our way back down, he took us to a cave that had only fairly recently been discovered. The entrance was small and somewhat hidden, but he encouraged us to take a look inside. He retrieved a flashlight from the car and led us inside, then proceeded to tell us about the natural history of that area. As we continued down the mountain, he continued pointing out several of the different species of flora and fauna that inhabited the mountain. It was all quite fascinating.

On our drive back to Taormina, he decided to take us briefly through Giardini Naxos, the oldest Greek settlement in Sicily. As it was our honeymoon, to give us a proper sendoff he then took us to a lovely spot with a breathtaking view of the Med from high on an overhanging cliff and proceeded to take our picture for us. Again, it was a personal touch that made the tour special.

I spent a lot of time writing about Corrado because in a tour like this, it's the guide that makes all the difference. Sure, you can spend less money and take yourself on a book-guided tour of Mt. Etna, but you won't learn half as much or feel half as connected to the mountain as if you let someone who knows it inside and out show you around. The tour is a little on the spendy side, but we felt it was entirely worth it and would recommend the tour to anyone.
