This restaurant in Taormina is situated in a small "hidden" street, right becide the church in the square (by the fountain) of Corso Umberto. The localities give a good atmosphere.
We went for one of the set menues - I had 6 dishes. The staff were most helpful and had the best expertice to find the right wine choices for each meal. High quality Sicilian raw-material, original and delicious presentation and new tastes gave a fantastic food (and wine) experience, all dishes were originally put together and presented. This is not the place to go if you want a familiar meal that you might as well could make in your own kitchen. However, if you want new, exciting food-experiences, and highest quality food and wine from the area - this is the place i Taormina - at least for one special occation dinner. Casa Grugno is a restaurant for food-lovers.

The restaurants in Taormina are general good, but Casa Grugno was especially good. Excellent food served in an original way and with original taste. The staff was friendly and always present and helpful if we had any questions or requests. The recommendations about which wine that went well with each course was also perfect. I will visit Casa Grugno again if I go back to Taormina.

A new chef took over the kitchen since this year. Unfortunately he does not match the standards set by the previous chef. Our first course (risotto, tuna carpaccio) was the (only) highlight of the meal. It went downhill from here with average main courses and deserts. Service: We heard the maitre say 'oh no, bambini !' when entering the restaurant. This was the first time in Italy that my kids were clearly not welcome !

We got a 'bill shock' when the check arrived. Most expensive meal during our 2 week tour in Sicily (incl. Dinner at several other Michenlin star restaurants). My children's meal was charged at 30 eur per child. My advice to fellow Taormina visitors: go elsewhere, avoid this place. If you want to try a michelin star ristorante, go to La Capinera !

Interesting "modern" Italian cooking but too self impressed w 1 Michelin star. Not a good price/value! Pompous! Pork dish overcooked. Pleasant outdoor garden on a hot night avoided sitting stifling indoors.

This restaurant is not for everyone, which is why opinion is so mixed. We found it exceptionally creative and satisfying. Most all the preparations are unusual variations of typical Sicilian ingredients but they really come together to create amazing flavors and aromas. Presentation is beautiful. The wine list is comprehensive and has a large group of vertical selections from local wineries that can't be found elsewhere. Staff is friendly, professional and discreet A lovely evening.
