We ate here many times during our stay in Taormina. Without exception the food was always cooked and presented to a very high standard. The staff were fantastic and even gave us free prosseco on a few nights! We could not have asked for better service and the amazing views from the restaurant just made our experiences here even more special!

We just returned from a week long vacation in Taormina where we rented an apartment high above the town. To go out for dinner in the center of town, we faced a 15 minute walk down 400 steps, a long wait at the bus stop, or a 15 euro cab ride. Luckily, al Saraceno was just down the street and the food was excellent. We ate there four nights out of seven and would recommend ordering the fish. Marcella did an outstanding job as hostess and waitress. The views were incredible.

We dined here with friends at the suggestion of our tour guide, as we were staying nearby at Villa Angela. The restaurant owner actually came to the hotel to pick us up! We were seated by the window, where we enjoyed the beautiful view of Taormina below. Our server was very friendly and helpful as she answered our questions about the menu. Some of our friends had steak, which they declared was the best meal they had ever had in Italy. Two others enjoyed the veal Marsala. My sea bass wrapped in sliced potatoes was accompanied by broiled grape tomatoes, componata and a small salad. It was delicious, as was my husband's risotto. We all had a great time, and the owner drove us back to the hotel.

We ate here 3 times during our week in Taormina, so good was the food and service. One night it was raining heavily so the owner picked us up in the car from our hotel. And on our last night we were treated to complimentary Limoncello.

Our hotel was just down the street and there was a lot of hype surrounding this restaurant so we were looking forward to having dinner there on our first night in Taormina. We walked up found the place and it was completely empty. Not a soul. Understanding that places open relatively late given US restaurants, we inquired if the restaurant was open. The waitress gave us a somewhat sarcastic response that can be translated to 'what does it look like? Of course we're open!" We giggled politely and were guided to a table with an ok view of the surrounding area. The table next to ours had what we perceived as a better view so we asked if we could sit there - 'no' was the response and we were shown other options. Ok we thought thinking that the place would fill up over time. We kept the original table. We ordered. The food was good but wasn't particularly outstanding as previous reviews led us to believe. We had the mixed sea food platter, pasta with swordfish, stuffed fried sardines. And for desert the broken cannoli (which was very good) and the pistachio parfait (which wasn't worth the calories). After being there for quite a long time another couple came in and were shown to the table next to us. They turned it down and opted for an interior table. Oddly, another couple came in 15 minutes later and was directed to the same table and they too requested another. The waitress detecting that we noticed that the table we originally requested was turned down by two other couples came by and shrugged. We didn't really know what the deal was but found the situation quite odd. The service during dinner was attentive. The staff just to seemed to have issues about allowing paying guests the use of a table that no one else seemed to want. Would we go back again? I think not - we since had some wonderful experiences at other places - if your looking for a place with great food that makes you feel very welcome check out Dolmen.
