Hotel Cavalieri is a small functional Italian design hotel with the major attraction in walking distance.

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Cavalieri. New tastefully modern hotel which maintains aspects of the old orginal residents. Family owned ,Gianluca and Antonino were warm and welcoming and very helpful. Great location.

We were delighted to spend two nights at this beautiful hotel. Elegant, simple, clean design. Breakfast was delicious (pastries - to die for), beds were comfortable. The owners of this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. Everything inside the hotel is a pleasure for the eyes.
The pizzeria around the corner serves very good "thin crust " pizza and typical Sicilian antipasti.
We booked a parking place in front of the hotel for 10 (or so) euro - very convenient.
Don't think twice, book this hotel.

Note: For first time travelers, most hotels in Italy, including this one (although the other toiletries are high quality) , do not provide hair conditioner - so bring your own. Don't let this minor issue ruin your stay in Italy.

This is a really lovely hotel, immaculate accommodation with a fabulous design ethos - a place where Minimalism meets La Dolce Vita. The owners are very helpful and friendly. But be aware that this is a city break hotel - the Via Malta is a very noisy street; contrary to other reviewers' experience we (as Londoners) were very aware of the traffic, and the very good double glazing was not quite enough to blot it out. Great for a couple of nights. A short evening walk into town makes it all worthwhile.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel and unreservedly recommend it. Our room was at the back of the hotel and very quiet (we had asked for a quiet room). It was very clean and the air conditioning worked well. The proprietors and all the staff were very friendly and most helpful (if we have one very mild criticism, they all spoke such fluent English that it was very difficult for us to practice our Italian!!). Breakfast included orange juice made from freshly squeezed Sicilian oranges - fabulous! Parking was a bit of a problem - but it is a problem everywhere in Siracusa!! However we always managed to find free on street parking close to the hotel and there is a public car park close by (charges apply 24 hours a day). The hotel’s location is very good - within easy walking distance of Ortigia - and close to the best shops! The proprietors (Gianluca, Enza, Antonino and Maria Lo Manto) will recommend restaurants - and the ones we visited never failed to provide excellent meals and wine (we recommend Yrmn - apparently made from a grape called Zibibbo). As well as all the cultural locations we also would very strongly recommend a visit to the fish market - a fantastic sight.

This beautiful, small design hotel was our favourite during our visit to Sicily. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was of adequate size, very clean and with all ammenities needed. The small breakfast buffet contained products of good quality that were nicely presented. Highly recommended for couples and/or friends travelling together.

My husband and I recently stayed at Cavalieri in Siracusa and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is totally renovated and we found everything to be new and in excellent condition. We requested a quiet room and were given an inner courtyard room that was totally quiet in the evening. The bathroom had all new fixtures and all furnishings are new, well cared for and comfortable. The staff is friendly and interested in helping. Gianluca, the hotel manager, upon signing us in was happy to give us all the information we needed about sights in Siracusa, restaurants and nearby towns to visit. We found the location to be good for us--a short walk to the bridge over to the island of Ortigia and a pleasant walk to the Museo Archelogico.
We would definitely stay at Cavalieri again if we are fortunate enough to return to Siracusa.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel Cavalieri, at the edge of the ancient city center, is a case in point; this old aristocratic residence belongs to a family of architects and designers, who've turned its 19th-century halls and rooms into a charmingly eclectic, thoroughly contemporary boutique hotel. The location, on Via Malta, is just to the mainland side of the bridge to Ortygia, which is the original ancient Greek settlement. This means easy access by day and a measure of peace by night. As does the hotel itself - these old walls shut out the noise, sealing guests in to a fantasy of noble life. It's not a period piece, though; along with the well-preserved original architecture you'll find all manner of contemporary touches, rooms featuring brand-new bath fixtures, beds and electronics and furnished with mid-century design classics. With few rooms it's perhaps a bit bigger than it feels - from within the rooms you'd be hard pressed not to imagine you're the old house's sole resident. ... more   less
