A good hotel in Siracusa with a nice roof top bar and pool. Rooms are modern and well equipped and housekeeping is good.
Breakfast on the sixth floor is good with a fair range of items at buffet, anyone expecting a full English may be disappointed. There is a good range of fruit, cereals and cakes etc.
The hotels is located a little out of the main tourist area and is about a twenty minute walk which was fine. There are a few cafes and bars around but you need to go into old Siracusa for a real selection of excellent restaurants.
Hotel also has free car car parking.
All in all a good hotel as you would expect from the Mecure chain.

Good location for parking and walking distance to railway station (10mins)and Ortigia (20 mins).
The rooms are modern with a hidden tv in the mirror. Breakfast had an excellent choice, with a choice of cooked breakfast cereal fruit cakes etc.
The staff where always helpful.
We would love to stay here again
The only negatives where that they allowed dogs in the breakfast room, and there are not many restaurants nearby ( but you need a good walk before and after an Italian meal).

Nice Hotel, big rooms. rooms are clean with large windows to add light and view (we stayed in a corner room, across the arceaological park). Breakfast was good, on the rooftop restaurant, near the pool. Nice to have a drink at the bar, viewing the city (aspecially the night view). The island is about a 20-25 min. walk and the archeaological park is just across the road. we enjoyed our stay!

To start with the plus points: the staff were lovely, very helpful in looking up bus and train times, lending umbrellas, called the puppet theatre for us etc. The breakfast buffet was great with something to suit all tastes - we loved the scrambled egg and bacon, the cakes and tarts were delicious if unfamiliar as breakfast food. The room was spotless and comfortable, The location was brilliant for the archaeological park and the Paolo Orsi Museum. The free WiFi was excellent. If you are looking for bottled water, snacks etc try the supermarket under the petrol station next door (down the ramp behind the carwash).

On the downside, you are at least 25 minutes from Ortigia and the main restaurant area and the buses don't run after 8.30 pm so you are faced with 25 minutes uphill or EUR12 for a rip off taxi. Although there is a restaurant in the hotel offering evening meals this consists of a very limited choice: for example, one evening the mains on offer consisted of 2 fish dishes only and typically there would be 2 pasta and 2 other dishes. The prices are significantly higher than we paid elsewhere and the portions smaller. The restaurant was also closed one evening for a tour party forcing the rest of the guests into an otherwise unused area in reception. We found 2 other options within 15 mintues walk, Locanda Colibri and the Koala Pub both of which were excellent - see separate reviews. The hotel is also very near the hospital and some nights the sound of yodelling ambulances was pretty much non-stop - glad our rooms were at the back.

Room tip: At the back so the ambulances don't wake you

Dear guest,
first of all, we want to thank you for staying in our hotel and for the time you spent to review it. We are glad to know that you have appreciated our services, we always try to do our best.
I will inform each department for some critic points you have reported. Our position is indicated on the maps, probably your choose has been determined by the proximity to the archeological park and you have underestimated the distance from the historical centre, that is about 1.5 kilometers far from our hotel; nevertheless, just few meters away there is the bus stop where to get the shuttle to the historical centre at the cost of € 1.00 per person.
For the noises of the ambulances, I have no weapons.
Thanks again and hope to see you soon.
Best regards
maurizio garofalo

Clean, modern hotel. Loved the room - great jacuzzi type shower over a generous bath - big enough for two! Super roof-top pool with views over the City and a cocktail bar. Enjoyed most evenings after a day out just relaxing on the loungers around the pool area having an evening appero.
Really friendly, helpful staff especially Andreas at the bar who kept topping up our nibbles with our drinks. Would happily stay there again. €10 taxi or a healthy 30 minutes walk into Ortigia for the taste of old Syracuse.

Room tip: We were on the 5th floor - easy access to the restaurant / breakfast room & pool
