we stayed at the principe di fitalia for a few nights with our toddler and our baby, and loved it. the hotel and surrounding garden and pool area are very beautiful, relaxing, comfortable, and clean. but what imressed me most: this was hands down the best breakfast buffet i've ever enjoyed at any hotel. and the most friendly and helpful staff any hotel could have! the staff truely makes you (and you children!) feel welcome. we also liked the comparatively small size of the hotel. and: you can enjoy the hotel's excellent cuisine of in a very laid back atmosphere by the pool.

Stayed here for 7 nights / 8 days, everything is just perfect, the hotel, the pool, the gym, the rooms are good, extremly clean and comfortable

The employees are extremely helpful, speaking either English and or French

There is simply nothing that can be criticised, it's a perfected location for a holiday, in the sun, to relax, eat and be happy,

Room Tip: Rooms nearest the pool and terrace, nice and sunny

We picked this hotel because of the reviews posted on Tripadvisor and it lived up to the comments. The staff do all they can to make their guest's stay enjoyable. The pool area is superb and the rooms very comfortable; but its the staff that really make this hotel. They are smiling all the time and you really feel that they want to help - nothing is too much trouble.
The directions were a bit hit and miss but that is largely down to the fact there are road works on the SP58. Finding our way round at 11.30pm with very few signposts and small country lanes was a nightmare but when we did arrive the staff were welcoming and prepared to offer us a meal if we'd wanted one!

When we arrived and drove on to the grounds we realized that this was going to be the definition of peaceful tranquility. We were greated at the desk by two staff members who very helpful and full of smiles and made us feel right at home. The room was very clean and even smelled great. The grounds and the pool are beautiful. Breakfast was amazing! Lots of fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, cold cuts, cakes, and lots more. We decided to stay longer then the one night we had booked for and we wished that we could stay longer. We had lunch and supper in the garden by the pool. I. Will always remember this place. It is family run and the staff is wonderful. Especially Natashia, who served us our meals and the friendly woman at the desk with the dark hair, I don' t remember her name. We had a lovely chat with the daughter of the hotel while we were in the pool. Such a dear. You need rest, this is the place, they even own the spa next door where you can have treatments. They shuttle you for free to the city and to their private beach. The only problem was my bed which was a little worn, but I am sure that they will change that mattress soon. They really want to please their clients.

We had a wonderful week. Our flight was 3 hours late so it meant we did not get to the hotel until nearly midnight. We were greeted by two smiling young ladies who were so kind, they made us a meal which we were really grateful for. The staff in all areas were wonderful, nothing was to much trouble to any of them. The hotel itself was superb. The room was very pleasant the gardens, pool and everything to do with the hotel was excellent. Although in an out of town position the tranquillity more than made up for the loss of restaurants and bars. The only thing we would recommend is that you take a at satnav with you if possible as it is quite difficult to find although the instructions given by the hotel are fine. For a peaceful and restful holiday this must be the hotel to visit, we hope to return another day.

We had read and re-read all the reviews and we actually changed to this hotel after a mistake with our booking at another hotel in Siracusa - and what a great mistake that turned out to be!

Arrival was after 10pm due to the time of the BA Flights to Catania - but even then the warmth of the welcome and the fact that the kitchen still provided us with a very good meal AND a good bottle of Nero D'Avola was a very good sign of things to come.

The staff were all very friendly and seemed to work all the hours god sends. On the subject of food, I had read from other subscribers about the food in the hotel being so good that it wasn't worth going into town in the evenings - that turned out to be very true with regard to the quality as every meal we had in the evening was excellent and authentic.

I would, however, advise any travellers to eat in the town of Ortigia one evening as the views from the restaurants down by the Fonte Aretusa at sun down are worth going for and there is some very good food to be found at a couple of those restaurants too! After dark, a walk 20yds up the street and soak up the atmosphere in Via Pompero Pitcherali with the locals is also worth venturing out for.

One word of warning - if you do find yourself going to the private 'beach' the hotel has access to, then don't expect sand or good food - it is a private beach not controlled by the hotel and there are only snacks there, so plan on lunch at a decent trattoria instead.

The hotel is great - the rooms are very clean, the staff very attentive, the food excellent and it is such a quiet location that you can really relax and take things very easy after a day of driving out and exploring the area or just after having spent too much time by the pool - you have the perfect base here. Some have claimed it is too far out - for us, this was part of the attraction; shuttles to Ortigia were flexible enough to accommodate us when required so we could go out and have a few drinks without being set to a rigid time, although our hire car was invaluable for visiting towns further away such as Noto and Avola etc as you would need in any part of Sicily!

we will definitely return

Room Tip: If you want a balcony, then obviously the upper floor was better, but we really didn't see this...

We have just got back from a week there. The hotel is lovely, the room was large and airconditioned, the bed comfortable with good quality linen and the staff really helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to make each guest feel special. The food was excellent - we tried both meat and fish dishes in the evenings and their pasta is great too. There was a good selection for breakfast - the usual fruit, cheeses, breads and cold meats but also eggs, cereals, cakes and biscotti.
The hotel is in a quiet area and they have bikes which we borrowed one afternoon. I understand there is a shuttle service to town or the beach. However, we had a hire car that enabled us to travel around and see more of Southern Sicily - I recommend taking a sat nav! We especially liked the town of Noto and the nature reserve at Oasi di Vendicari.
The hotel were also kind enough to lend us beach towels.
