Stayed for 5 nights in May 2016 and used as a base to explore Syracuse and South East Sicily. An easy drive from the airport (about an hour) but parking is a problem in the old part of the town with access restricted to none residents on Sunday's (the day of our arrival). Public car parking not too far away and a pleasant walk through the town. Local parking is available but we never bothered enjoying exploring the town when we needed the car.
The communication beforehand with the owners was good and the questions we had answered fully and promptly They greeted us on arrival and went through the the apartment and pointed out local shops /restaurants which was much appreciated etc which was much appreciated.
Apartment is lovely and situated on a corner of an old building with balconies to all rooms (apart from the bathroom which is internal) giving a vantage point to watch the world go by with a glass of wine of an evening. You can see the sea from the balcony in the lounge at a stretch!
A very short walk to the sea front (maybe 30mtrs) and well situated to look around the town where there is bags to see. Plenty of restaurants about and not as expensive as we thought (a lot cheaper than Northern Italy).
Explored the local beaches and had a trip to cava grande which was worth the trip - take sensible footwear and your swimmers if you fancy cooling off in the clear water of the river as it meanders through the gorge.
The owners of this apartment describe it as elegant, but the word, elegant, doesn’t come close to capturing how beautiful and special this lodging is. Both owners are architects, and their expertise is obvious in the layout and design. The apartment is spacious and airy with clean lines, accented with interesting architectural artifacts. It has the unique combination of all the modern amenities one would prefer, including a large exceptionally beautiful and functional bathroom, packaged in rooms that are both charming and classic.
The location couldn’t be more convenient, one block from the sea and a small beach, and one block from Via Roma, a central street with many interesting shops, cafes and restaurants.
The owners are gracious and helpful. They live nearby and are available to provide assistance and advice, as needed.
My wife and I spent five wonderful days in this apartment, and our only regret was that we had to leave it. We recommend it highly and unequivocally.

Such a lovely apartment in the most beautiful area of Ortigia. From the moment we arrived Mariella was the perfect hostess. The flat is in an amazing older building just steps away from the sea. I absolutely loved Mariella's decorating, it lives up to it's name, elegante. The kitchen is large with everything you need. The cooking and sink area are a bit small but manageable for simple meals. The location is perfect, very quiet but within walking distance to everything. We had one minor issue with the older plumbing but Mariella was quick to address the problem. Milko was also helpful in steering us towards some good restaurants.
One thing I had some issues with had nothing to do with the apartment but with Siracusa in general. The tourist infrastructure is sorely lacking, we had a very hard time finding information about tours, local sites, public transportation, etc.
