My wife and I found out about this place on a tripadvisor forum post but not much more was written about it, too bad. It is an ancient ritual bath located in the old Jewish quarter of Ortigia island. It is in the cellar of the Hotel Alla Giudecca, found during a renovation around 6 years ago. The entrance to the baths were hidden behind walls by the Jews before they were forced to leave the island. It is in one word, astounding! Hidden for all these years. Hewn out of stone, fed by a spring, it was where Jewish women took their cleansing baths before marriage, etc. Be aware before you go It's a long way down and there are only stairs. I think it was 5 Euros each which includes a visit to the small museum which displays some of the items found during the renovation. Check the hotels web site or call for the tour times. Visit if you can, it's very interesting and doesn't take a lot of time. Just to think, all done by hand tools, hundreds of years ago!
