“Fun, informative, and more to come”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

The Arkimedeion is more of a kid's museum, but there's still plenty to learn and enjoy for adults. The current exhibitions focus on Archimedes' discoveries in mathematics. I really enjoyed how they set up interactive experiments to demonstrate Archimedes' experiments and the principles he discovered. There's even a really fun exhibit debunking a common misconception about Archimedes.

Even better, by next year they're adding a second floor that will cover Archimedes' advancements in engineering. I can't wait to see it!

“Fascinating”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Some people had told us they'd found this place a disappointment, but we disagree. It told us lots of unusual stuff about Archimedes which surprised us greatly - who knew he was so successful in so many different areas? The displays were good and the hands-on exhibits very useful to help explain the trickier bits.

“REALLY INTERESTING”

Really interesting. Because it is not very big, you can focus on every single maschine displayed in the museum. The best one is in the garden of the museum- it depicts the physical properties of the sound waves and consists of two semispherical plates that are standing in front of each other. Between them there are a few meters of distance. You have to whisper in front of one of them and your partner does the same with the second one. Although you whisper, you can perfectly hear each other. Children were stunned! Felt like magic!

“good choice”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

If you want to spend your time wisely while being in Siracuse, you should definitely visit this place! Being not only a museum, but also a science centre it is a must - see for everyone who has heard about Archimede. Maybe it is not enormous however it helps in focusing on the very content of the museum. All the exhibits are to be discovered in few seconds and when it comes to reading the technical details of the invention it turns out that the concept was far more complicated. Having thought "Eureka" every 5 minutes I strongly reccomend it to everyone!
