We ate here on the penultimate evening of our holiday and it was a very pleasant experience. The location is very good, directly opposite the wonderful Duomo. The interior of the restaurant is very tasteful, housed in a most atmospheric large domed room. The decor is of traditional restaurant style with white table cloths and elegantly dressed tables. The staff are equally smartly attired. The choice of food was impressive, with menus in both English & Italian. Mr C had aubergine chips with grilled & dressed fresh vegetables, Mrs C had prawns wrapped in bacon followed by gnocchetti with pesto and nuts. It arrived very promptly and we were well attended to by the staff. The house wine was very pleasant, even if the wine waiter was a little peculiar! :) Considering the situation of this restaurant the prices are incredibly reasonable and it is to be highly recommended.

This was one of my favourite evenings in an 18-day trip.

We happened upon the restaurant and chose it for its location. On the other side of the piazza, an accordionist played under a lamp. A passing couple or two danced.

Our waiters were professional and attentive. My only disappointment was that our original uni lingual waiter didn't stay with us, but sent an English speaking waiter over (I would rather have tried to bumble along in Italian, but I expect he thought he was doing us a kindness). I had the basil crusted swordfish al forno, which was spectacularly good, for an astonishing 10 euros. We were very happy with our Sicilian wine, and had none of the service problems mentioned elsewhere. The lighting in the square highlights the surrounding buildings and provides a beautiful backdrop for a convivial evening.

Surprising, because the location is enough — they could very easily have taken shortcuts on the food. The outdoor tables are on one of the most spectacular squares in the world. The other restaurants on the square do what you'd expect in such a place... charge a little too much for food that's the wrong side of ordinary. But this place has an inventive and playful menu, goegeous ingredients, friendly and swift service, and fair prices. Try the cous-cous flour starter — very moreish!

We chose this restaurant because its menu offered something typically Sicilian but also a little different to the standard trattoria fare (and because we wanted to dine on the beautiful Piazza Duomo. All fear that the place was a tourist trap vanished when the food arrived. Service was good, and the grilled red squid (beautifully tender), caponata and aubergine chips were sublime. The homemade pistacchio gelato tasted of pistacchio nuts rather than artifical flavouring (as it should), and was absolutely delicious! Quite simply the best meal we had in Italy.

We ended here after taking a look at some restaurants here and there. We arrived at the piazza for the first time and we were mesmerized: all we wanted was a place with good food to appreciate the surroudings and observe the passeggiata. Apart from being a very touristy place, the food is tasty and basic, the service was kind, we had wine in our glasses and that's all we needed for a summer night.
