Giuggiulena Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #11 of 235 Syracuse B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 23, 2013

Most of what can be said has already been said by other reviewers. Absolute full marks in every respect.

- 20 minute walk from Ortygia, but the walk is easy.If you don't fancy the walk there is a good restaurant just up the street.
- Not sure how you easy it would be to get there by public transport, but if you are driving there is plenty of on street parking close by.
- Right beside the sea, just walk out the back door. Snorkels, flippers, swim shoes all provided free of charge.
- Great breakfast.
- It seems there are six rooms in the property. 2 of them are right at sea level. Unfortunately one of them does not have a balcony (steps there for access to the sea) and you might feel a little hard done by if you get this room, but it would still have wonderful views.
- Room rates are actually quite expensive for a B&B but worth it.

I could not recommend this B&B highly enough.

Room Tip: 2 sea level rooms. One does not have a balcony.

There is nothing between you and the sea at this quiet and engrossing place. Charming and professional host Sabrina is in charge and will take care of all your problems like it might be hers. Breakfast with ricotta or smoked Gouda from the local farm on the balcony under the rising sun. Ortiga is a short walk - for us it was about 15 minutes - away. This was Sicily at its best for us and we already want to come back.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this B&B from the first night " orientation" tea with Sabrina when she gave us tons of tips to our departure when our only regret was we could not have stayed longer! Everything from the unbelievable view from our balcony, to swimming right in front of the house was perfect. We felt we came back to visit our old friends who offered unparalleled warmth and readiness to help in any possible way. From other guests' reviews, it is obvious everybody was treated that way. The breakfast with farm-fresh products provided the best memory for our taste buds in our 2 - week trip. The room was very spacious and clean, with the whole villa giving a feel of a very authentic, tastefully designed home, whose owners care about the people who had a chance to stay with them. Hopefully, someday we'll be back -- for a longer and more relaxed stay.

What a place ! This B&B has got all what someone coming to visit Sicily would dream of:
1/ live in a Sicilian house - in fact the hotel was the owner's grand mother villa and the owner converted it beautifully
2/ the room was just amazing : the view on the sea is mind-blowing ; the room is huge, the bed is very big, the decoration is just great, the right colour balance between blue, white and wood, the terasse is outstanding ( you can swim directily from outside the lower ground room, the sea is clear with great views on the shore)
3/ sleep in a calm and serene environment
4/enjoy the amazing sunrise and full moon beauty on the sea
5/ benefit from the owner advices on food and beaches
6/enjoy peaceful sea view breakfast

I definitely recommend this place to anyone !

We stayed 6 nights in July 13 for our honeymoon. Sabrina and Claudia made us feel super welcome and we could not have asked for a more romantic location. We sat outside on our sea-facing balcony in perfect peace just listening to the waves, watched fishing boats in the distance and enjoyed some fabulous picnic lunch they packed for us as we had missed some breakfasts due to leaving early for trips out of town.

There is a rocky but perfectly lovely and enjoyable private beach and they provide shoes to stop you from slipping on the rocks. Ortiga is a bit of a walk away, as is the bus station, but in the end I think that only added to the charm as we composed out own little route to the main town and had romantic quiet strolls every night.

We have previously stayed in a plethora or B&Bs, lived 5 star and done glamping. I think I would easily rate this as one of the best accommodation and value for money I have ever received. Era stupendo!

Room Tip: All the rooms are facing the sea, perhaps just ask for one with a balcony. Saying that, I think ther...

Stayed here for two nights in June with my wife on Honeymoon. Maybe a little tricky to find but definitely worth it. The view from our room was breathtaking and we could walk outside directly on to the rocks and the sea. They even provided snorkeling equipment for the guests to use free of charge, granted it wasn't great but it did the job, and the snorkeling was lovely, and refreshing in the heat. We ate breakfast on the balcony and we could sun bathe on the roof. The owner was lovely, gave us all the information we need and there were bikes that we could use for free to go to Ortigia. We were very happy here and would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Bottom floor nearest the back door to the sea, ours had a little balcony overlooking it as well...

I loved this B&B. It was really clean, the rooms are spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea and breakfast is fresh and filling. Although Ortiga is a 20 minute walk away I was delighted to have a stroll home after dinner in the evenings. The owner is super friendly and makes you feel at home. I would highly recommend this B&B.
