Description: street food of Ortigia. Dairy Borderi serves a wide range of products and typical Sicilian cheeses made by hand. We are in the market of Ortigia, and the place we serve our sandwiches and platters. We carry out the catering service and ship all over the world.

Oh my God, visiting Caseificio Borderi was one of the highlights of our entire vacation. The entire experience visiting the marketplace and specifically this cheese making shop was fantastic! We were treated to many samples, snacks, drinks and finally, the best sandwich I have ever had. If visiting Siracusa, make the time to stop here. On our next visit we will most definitely return. Authentic Sicilian people and hospitality. Wish I could return right now!

These folks wrote the book on good food and hospitality. They lure you in with free samples which are great to begin with and then the wonderful people behind the counter start with - I make you present - and begin to make you sanwiches, give out beer and wine and cookies. Of course they want you to buy but their food is so good and their hospitality so genuine that it is a pleasure, a treat and even an honor to be afforded such delicious cheese, meat, bread, and various mixes of olives, capers, sun dried tomatos, etc. etc. There are good places to eat in Syracusa but this place beats them all.

Wonderful family owned & operated place to get an exceptional lunch sandwich which I ate while shopping for meats, cheeses, wine, homemade tomato paste, capers to take away. Will likely not get back to Sicily but will remember Caseificio Borderi experience & hope if you are ever in Syracuse you will make time to go there.

This is a fast sandwich take away. Its fast inasmuch as the speed at which the proprietor makes his torpedo shaped sandwiches crammed full with tasty cheeses, tomatoes, herbs spices, olive oil, meats or fish while stood outside of his small shop. At the same time he is also tossing large chunky morsels to admiring onlookers. The ingredients he uses are fantastic for their taste and freshness. There was always a queue and what with onlookers with their cameras it was always crowded but what a maestro. There was also a healthy rivalry between him and his daughter doing the same behind him in their small shop. A 'must visit' if you find yourself in Ortigia. One word of warning they are big sandwiches

Every now and then in your travels, you stumble on a place that is truly special and fantastic. Caseificio Borderi is one of those places.

The sandwiches are among the best I've had. Their latest creation - the Shaker Sandwich - is not to be missed. They chop fresh tomatoes, mint, basil, lemon, olive oil, oregano, etc. and shake it up in a martini shaker, resulting in a remarkably fresh mixture which they pour onto fresh bread. This is then covered with freshly sliced meat and cheese (for me, prosciutto and smoked mozzarella). Eat it right there in the shop with the glass of wine they give you, and enjoy the conversation with both the locals and tourists who frequent this place everyday.

The lovely couple and they're family running the store is genuinely friendly, and I wish them nothing but future success.
