Description: street food of Ortigia. Dairy Borderi serves a wide range of products and typical Sicilian cheeses made by hand. We are in the market of Ortigia, and the place we serve our sandwiches and platters. We carry out the catering service and ship all over the world.

Need a reason to visit Scily? Here you got one. All the previous reviews were spot on. Great food provided by great people. Went twice. Bought a lot of cheese :-)

The paninis are to die for!

What is there to say beyond celebrating the freshness of the ingredients and the kindness of the host! A fabulous place right in the heart of the daily market - make sure u go before it closes mid afternoon - where the sandwiches are prepared with love and care! Was by far the best food in Syracuse, for its beauty and its simplicity. Not to be missed!

You must stop by this delicatessen in the bustling Ortigia market. It has a delicious selection of ricotta, buffalo mozzarella, pecorino cheese plus thinly sliced meats, olives and some local wines. The young man serving was extremely friendly and generously handed out samples of meats and cheeses, not to mention a small cup of local white wine. I recommend the home made ricotta, the almond smoky flavoured mozzarella, the buffalo mozzarella, the local wine (5 euro per bottle) and get them to make you a roll of mixed cheese and meat to take away. We had one roll smeared with local tomato paste, thinly sliced mortadella meat and pecorino cheese and another roll with prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, olive oil, oregano & some chilli. We will be going back for lunch rolls again and stocking up on cheese and meats to take home as well. Don't miss it.

We had a very nice snack at this sandwich bar/deli - best lunch we had in a week in Sicily! It is helpful to know that 1) it is the second deli in from the port area end of the street, on the right.
2) There is nowhere to sit. We bought a couple of plastic cups of chilled white wine to go with our filled baguettes and sat outside at a modest café bar a couple of streets on (port on our right) where the nice lady was happy to sell us ice creams & coffee to finish our meal.
3) The Borderis - Aunt & Nephew were charming but very busy. We didn't try to have a social experience as we had a wait for our turn and there was a queue behind us. Nevertheless we had a pleasant wait & were given various samples to help us choose. 4) The ricotta infornata (smoked cottage cheese) is to die for, quite different from anything we have had in the way of ricottas. We are still savouring it virtually, a fortnight later!

I have yust followed my nose and I found mr.Borderi outside his store making a sandwich for a couple. In the next moment began the tasting of various types of cheese, salami and other specialities. It was an irresistible temptation so I left mr.Borderi to make a sandwich by his own recomandations. I don't remember all the ingredients, but it was a delicious combination of dryed tomato in olive oil, smoked mozzarella, salami and several trypes of cheese, olives, yuice of squeezed lemon, origano and olive oil on bread. The taste was e... was u... ...go to Syracuse and try it.

Now, at home, I still enjoy the cheese brougt in Syracuse but I miss mr.Borderi's jokes, comments and explanations...

greetings from Slovenia, Dean
