beautiful little island in Siracusa. take a stroll around the cute little streets filled with quaint restaurants and bars and little shops. you can get lost for hours. there is a huge fountain in the middle. one walking street with higher end shops. a huge shoreline. this place is definitely worth visiting and a very nice place to stay.

Ortigia is an island however the short little bridge use cross to reach the island makes it hard to realize you are actually on an island. When you are along the outside of the island facing the sea it is apparent and beautiful. Inside the center of the island with it's narrow streets it is hard to forget you are on an island. It does has the tourist street market but also much more.

Imagine you are in Paradise but it needs a bit of infrastructure work. If you like amazing food and wine, friendly people, sunny September weather, great ocean swimming, a fantastic history going back almost 3,000 years, then you will love this place. Seriously, just the food is worth the trip.

Hands down the very best and impressive destination in Sicily. Well organized and sparkling clean, safe and tons of restaurants and bars - one cuter then the next.

The island of Ortygia is where Syracuse's old town is located. It is a showcase of baroque and medieval architecture. Piazza del Duomo is the center of the Old City. Getting there you find many cafe's, restaurants, shops, churches, piazzas and a lot of history. Just after crossing the bridge that leads you to the island there are some ruins that give you an idea of the life in the old city.
