Narrow streets, very old buildings, wonderful shops, beautiful piazza, loads of restaurants and a Caravaggio!

We traveled off season, which probably helped make the trip more pleasant. However, the Piazza Duomo, with its Baroque architecture reminiscent of Rome, is paved with what appears to be a cream colored marble. The reflected light bathed the plaza in an incredible golden light. At night we would sit on the church steps watching the local families stroll across as we enjoyed our gelati. We were told that the weather was unusually warm for the last week of October - 70-80 degrees F - and sunny every day. This was such a low-key relaxing vacation and the shopkeepers were generally friendly and helpful.

We had 2 days here and loved it. Spent most of our time just wandering the streets, getting lost and then finding our way again. It's really stunning with the inner part of the island more interesting than the seaside streets. Duomo is gorgeous, sitting having coffee opposite Diana's fountain, the shopping is amazing and we found some great restaurants. Temple of Apollo not particularly interesting especially if you've been to the Greek amphitheatre, but overall a great place to lose yourself for a few days
