Visited today with friends. The theater is ok and well restored.
The quarry is nice with a good echo tunnel.
The Roman amphitheater is nice.

A good hike up a paved walkway up to the top of the hill to see the theater. Still well preserved to this day. Amazing to experience and envision it full of people in its day. Much larger than many of the theaters I have seen.

As we walked through this site, and saw the magnificient remains of this amphtheater, we would only imagine what it was like in its original state. Even with the passage of years, and Charles V taking many of the stones to Ortigia, it remains a spectacular place to visit. See separate entry for the Ear of Dionysius, also great.

Put on you walking shoes and allow plenty if time to see the Greek Theater. I suggest earlier in the day before it gets too hot. A lot of steps to climb if you want to see everything.

In Syracuse you obviously want to see some glimpses of the history - including the Greek and Roman parts. The Greek Theater is located in the same "park" as the Roman amphitheater, the Ear of Dionysius and more. It is not that suitable for people with walking difficulties, but well worth it for the rest of us!

We paid €10 for entry to the Greek Theatre, the Roman Theatre and the Ear of Dionysus. We especially enjoyed the Greek Theatre but it would have been more enjoyable if there was information available at certain points along the route. A must visit if you are in Syracuse.

This amazing structure is over 2000 years old and it is the only ancient theater carved out of a single piece of rock. It is so well preserved that it is still used today for Greek plays and other events. Have your camera ready.

Truly fascinating and well worth having the audioguide. It is quite a big area so take water. But beware of the large tour groups.

Please watch out at the entrance. They will charge a 13 year old. Other people had to pay for 3 people and got 2 tickets. If you ask your money back, you will not receive it back. Be careful with these scammers!
