The weather was great and we had a lovely walk around the Greek theatre. The children loved it. Pity there wasn't a guide to explain a few facts!

Great park and wonderful theatre etc. Sadly there was absolutely NO information in English (or any other language except Italian) available. No maps, no texts, no booklets for sale, no guides, no nothing. This made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience.
Be warned that it will be very, very hot out there in the summer.

For years and years I have always wanted to see the Greek Theatre in Siracusa as well as Mount Etna. Ever since I studied ancient history, Latin and ancient Greek at school these were high on my bucket list. Finally I got the opportunity to see them "in the flesh," so to speak and not on television or in text books. I was not disappointed by the experience. They are a must for any traveller and while you are in Sicily pay a visit to the Valey of the Temples at Agrigento, another must see location-fantastic. Ed Smyth

The scale of this amphitheatre is extraordinary. When we were there, they were building a stage and I am just sorry that we didn't have the chance to see a play. It would be wonderful.

7 of us visited the Neapolis, visiting the Greek theatre, ear of Dionysius, and Roman amphitheatre. Not one helpful piece of paper or plaque exists in this place, which meant that without a guide, we didn't learn all we could or should have. (Sadly, we had left our guidebook back at the hotel.) It's not too hard to get to by bus from Ortygia, but we waited over an hour in the rain for a return bus. We decided at one point the city buses took the siesta.
