This nice hotel is located in a farm area near Syracusa Sicily. The management makes you fell special and the want you to have the best stay as possible. Too bad it was full and we could no stay one more day. The sorroundings are beautiful, with a Sicilian Lemon Orchard, beautiful Swiming pool, very confortble rooms. Only the location is a little hard to find, but if you pay atention there are many signs showing the way. The GPS gets lost. Wonderful Breakfast

Room Tip: I got the last room and it was really good.

My husband & I honeymooned here in October 2013 and it was amazing. The staff are super friendly, the suite was gorgeous and modern, and the grounds of the hotel are stunning. It is most definitely a honeymoon/anniversary type of hotel, very quiet with guest keeping to themselves on the whole. That said, there were some families there and I noted facilities for children. There is also a games room which my husband and I used! I had a massage which I really enjoyed and the staff were on hand to give us information about how to access trips and excursions. We hired a car and I recommend this unless you are happy to stay within the grounds of the lovely hotel. The pool area is so beautiful as are the gardens with luxurious seating where you can relax with your other half and forget the outside world exists! The food is perfect as well! I would recommend getting up early to take full advantage of the wide range of breakfast items. We ate twice in the restaurant and it was superb with very friendly waiters who are on hand to explain, guide or advise you on your food or wine.

I honestly cannot fault Borgo Pantano, it is a very special hotel with honest, friendly and sincere staff (who between them speak many, many languages!). We will definitely go for a special anniversary break in the years to come and I very much look forward to that.

We stayed 7 nights at Borgo Pantano as part of our holiday in Sicily and had high hopes after having read the reviews on TA.

The Borgo is located 10 minutes by car from Siracusa, on the country side. If you are driving yourself, make sure to follow the instructions that the hotel reception sends you per email prior to your arrival. Your gps will not get you there...

Although the view around the hotel is not spectacular, the resort itself is very beautiful, with the pool and the garden as main attraction.

As we were travelling with our 2 teenagers, we booked a Junior Suite.
The room (nr 133) had a seperate bedroom with King bed (firm but not too hard), a living room with a large (kingsize) sofabed, a large walk in wardrobe with enough space for all our clothes, a minibar, a safe and wifi (free in the entire hotel).
Seperate airco in both rooms.
The matress on the sofabed was a bit too hard to sleep 7 nights, but this was taken care of as soon as we asked to change it.
On the hotel website you will see pictures of the Junior Suite Duplex rooms, which have a terrace. As our room was situated beneath the breakfast room / restaurant, it was no Duplex and had no terrace. As there are plenty of lounge areas around if you wish to sit outside, we did not mis this. Besides, we heard from other guests staying in a duplex room that they did not have a lot of storage room, so we were happy with our room.
Being beneath the restaurant did not cause any disturbing noise, the rooms are sound proof.

Bathroom: rather small, with a shower, a sink, toilet and bidet. Plenty of fresh towels every day. Some extra space to hang up the towels and put the toiletries of 4 people would be an asset.

Pool and garden:
Very beautiful, well maintained grounds, plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. Lots of space to relax, either at the pool or more seperate in garden.
Free pool towel service (clean, fresh towels every day), pool bar and restrooms.
Wifi also available here, although not always as fast.

Served in the breakfast room or on the terrace.
Very extensive and delicious buffet, with juices, tea (coffee served at the table), eggs and bacon, cheeses, ham, toast, bread, fruit (watermelon, melon, cherries, grapes, apples, you name it...), the best self made orange jam I ever tasted, small pieces of all kinds of delicious canapes, cereals, yoghurt,...

Lunch and dinner:
Lunch is served by the pool under a very beautiful pergola.
Dinner is served on the terrace of the main restaurant.
Compared to the exceptional high level of service throughout the entire hotel, the restaurant is only mediocre. There is an a la carte menu, and different suggestions every day. We had dinner 4 times there, the first time the evening we arrived and then 3 more times because we did not want to drive all the way into town.
First night there was a complete chaos, wine not being served yet when the starters were already served. Water only when we had finished our starters. Waiters ignoring us.
Food is not bad, but not special either, needs more seasoning.
Main problem at the restaurant when we were there: the lady who serves the drinks is badly organized and ignores the guests.
A pitty for such a great place...

Kids play room and gym:
Situated next to the lobby, there is a playroom with table tennis, table soccer, card games, a WII and 3 fitness machines.

The Borgo Pantano is a very good hotel, with exceptional service, the staff really go above and beyond. We would certainly stay there again if we return to Sicily.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on a recent trip around Sicily - it really wasn't enough time. The hotel is the most relaxing place I've ever stayed - in the middle of the countryside with barely a noise around. The pool area is stunning and there was always plenty of room for everyone, making it feel really private.

All the staff at the hotel, from the reception to the waiting staff, are fantastic and the manager even drove us to Syracuse train station when our taxi was late - they go above and beyond. We ate lunch and dinner both days at the hotel and thought the food was great. They have the same menu each day but with daily market specials with lots of Sicilian specialities. It's also reasonably priced, as is the wine. Breakfast was the best we had in Sicily. There is also a lovely spa area which is reasonably priced and a games room with fitness equipment and table tennis (which we used during an uncharacteristic thunderstorm one morning).

We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We had one of the junior suites which was gorgeously decorated and really spacious.

Idyllic venue. The whole setting of the hotel, design of the accommodation and the grounds ensures a peaceful and relaxing stay. There is plenty of space for a lazy morning or afternoon at the poolside or in the amazing gardens. The rooms are elegant and spacious and not being part of a chain all are individual and maintained to a high standard- spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was excellent, providing an extensive choice and the quality outstanding. The restaurant passed expectations for a hotel restaurant, it was not like eating in a hotel. The menu changed daily offering local specialties and was accompanied by a good wine list and not ridiculously expensive.
Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Attention to detail ensures nothing is overlooked.
The hotel is situated in the peace and quiet of spectacular countryside. Although taxis can be ordered easily, to make the most of the area a car is essential. There are plenty of interesting things to do and see locally: beautiful countryside and walks, perfect beaches with turquoise sea, towns and cities with a fantastic architectural heritage, ancient ruins, wonderful food and wine and more.
Very difficult difficult to find though and Sat Nav does not help.

Giosi, the owner, is a delight. She obviously takes great pride in, and loves her property and her guests, and it shows. She spent time with us each day making sure we had everything we needed (and even took the time to give us a personalized recommondation for a beach to visit). The rooms are lovingly decorated, and even our "standard" room, which was right below the restaurant, was clean, comfortable, and pretty. Although we had no view, we did have quiet, a comfortable bed, and enough room for the two of us. The pool was fabulous - the water temperature was just perfect, it is large, and it has a unique feature - a very gradually sloped entry (much like a beach) which makes it perfect for families with small children as well as those of us who want to go into the water more slowly. And the pool staff was also first rate - very accommodating, quick on the serve, and professional but friendly. Wifi was a bit spotty in the room, but as soon as I went outside, it cranked right up. Parking is plentiful (not so in Siracusa or Ortygia), and although the hotel can be a bit frustrating to find for the first time, once you get there, it is all worth it.

We chose this hotel for the very high reviews it gets on Trip Advisor(Top 20 in Europe). Our expectations were quite high and we were curious to see what makes the hotel so special.
The pool area, the food were exceptional. But what makes the hotel a cut above the rest was the service from the staff and the owners of the hotel. Not being a large chain hotel gives you the feeling of being treated like a person not a number. Giusy (one of the owners) and her team would welcome you for breakfast, even remembering the guests names. The food is mostly prepared at the hotel. Things here are done with passion, love and pride. Will surely come back and hope to see all the great staff that makes this hotel so special!
