We stayed for 5 nights here (2 minutes walking distance from the main piazza in Origia) in the appartment 11 that has 2 floors and a balcony and absolutely loved it! The son of the owner welcomed us and gave us many tips ao that we could enjoy our stay, the appartment was well furnished een with a bottle of wine and one of water - as well as tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, herba and olive oil. We came with a baby and had a baby chair, a baby bed and a baby basin - all free of charge. It seems that the owners pay much attention so that your stay gets unforgetable, easy and pleasant.

At the end of our stay Luca even wanted to check that eerything went well and if they should change anything.

Nothing negative to tell, simply happy to recommend this address!

There are countless hotels and vacation rentals that are ordinary - but few in our experience have been consistently "extra"ordinary. La Casa delle Fate definitely qualifies as "extraordinary". Luca, the manager of this building of unique apartments is one in a million. He handled all the ordinary stuff like recommendations and directions... and he unselfishly handled all of the extra stuff like our lost baggage. The building is a collection of eclectic small apartments - each with a kitchenette, a seating area and a large bedroom. Our apartment also featured grotto ceilings and a walkout private patio. The building, circa 1850, is also within a short walk to the Duomo, shopping, restaurants, gelato and the market. I wish we could give it more than 5 stars.

Room Tip: A tremendous value for the money!

My husband and I have just stayed for a week in these fabulous apartments. We rented Circio a lovely large ground floor apartment with a very Sicilian style and its own private courtyard complete with orange tree and grape vine. All the apartments are different and I would have been very happy in any of them. The apartments are in a quiet spot in the beautiful lane-ways of Ortigia just a stones throw from the water. The owners, Gianni and Anna and their son Luca are both fantastic hosts and lovely people. We were picked up from the bus station, given a great orientation to the island and Luca was on hand to provide all the information and help we needed during our stay. Highly recommend this as a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for self contained accommodation.

Having seen photos and read about the stunning small island of Ortigia, I was very pleased to find a vacation rental right on the island at a reasonable price. I was even more pleased when we arrived and saw just how incredible the apartment is. We rented Ciricio, a ground floor unit, for a week's stay. It has a large living room with sleeper sofa, a good-size kitchen (with laundry!) a bedroom, a large bath, and, best of all, a private courtyard. It has great character--it is of the standard, classic stone and masonry architecture of the island, probably at least several hundred years old, with huge barrel ceilings and old tile floors. It has been modernized just enough to make it pleasant but not detract from the historic aspects.

The building is located near the southern tip of Ortigia, about a block from the castle and a few blocks from Piazza Duomo. Having walked the entire island during our stay, there is not really a bad location on the island except those located too close to bars (due to noise). We were very happy with the location of la Casa delle Fate--very quiet, down a narrow, low traffic street. Parking was an initial concern, but we had no issues, even when there are traffic restrictions on the southern part of the island during weekend evenings. We were usually able to park within a block or two in the free areas near the sea wall or within a half-mile further north if we missed the traffic curfew.

The owners were very pleasant and ever present or accessible when we needed them. They provided great information, including maps, about the island and surrounding areas--locations of historic sites, recommendations for beaches and restaurants, and areas to hike. Our primary purpose for the visit was to research my ancestry in a nearby town. When mentioned to the owners, they were very helpful. They made calls to friends in the area to ask about potential descendents of my ancestors and continue to assist with contacts.

If I decide to stay in the area again, I will definitely stay at this location. I have already highly recommended it to friends and family.

First of all we can't praise Lucca , the owner's son enough. He was marvellous to deal with before and during our trip - and gave us lifts to and from the bus station at the beginning and end of our stay- and lots of hints and tips. The flat was small but perfectly positioned - a quiet little oasis, a stone's throw from the sea, surrounded by enchanting alleyways full of restaurants and cafes all leading to the wonderful main square. We made great use of the terrace. We would happily return to La Casa delle Fate.
