“Wonderful experience”

This charming little B&B is just as described. The rooms are more like large suites, with an anteroom, a sitting room, and a very large bedroom with huge bath. The staff - non-English speaking but extremely helpful and courteous - will go out of their way to help guests with small things.
The hotel is located just off the Piazza Marina in an area of old palazzi, many of which are under renovation. The only drawback is the street noise, which is probably less than elsewhere in Palermo but still a bit of a problem. Earplugs helped, and would probably be necessary anywhere in such a busy and noisy city.

I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here in October 2007. The B&B is located in a very narrow street in an old and authentic part of Palermo. We were lucky and could park our small car right next to the hotel. Gave the owner our car keys so he could move the car in case needed. When checking in the owner (who only speaks Italian, but we still had no problems communicating) gave us a very large appartment with 3 bed rooms and a bathroom at the top floor of his B&B. The rooms are spotless clean but a bit noisy, but when living in the heart of a bustling city this is to be expected of course. Also, Palermo seems to be one big renovation area, so everywhere in town there is construction going on. Breakfast was traditional Italian - sweet rolls, bread and jams, and a very nice cappuchino. Main sight seeing places are within walking distance. Overall we would definitely recommend this B&B. Tip for dinner: Case del Brodo at the Corso Vittorio Emmanuele 175 - a traditional Palermo restaurant with good quality meals at reasonable prices (18 euro for a 3 course menu including wine and water).

Three friends and I stayed there for two nights in June, 2007. We loved it.
The location is great, right downtown, in a historic neighborhood, with restaurants, and all tourist attractions within walking distance.
The hotel has recently been renovated, probably in 2005 or 2006.
Our rooms were spotlessly clean and air conditioned (tile floors), with large comfortable beds and clean sheets. My room was quite large, and that of my friends truly palatial. The bathrooms were ensuite (of course), spotlessly clean, and very large indeed.
Basically, the hotel looks exactly as it does on their website.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, although not all spoke English (one man spoke German and French) and some spoke only Italian.
Breakfast was of the traditional Italian kind, with espresso, OJ, and a cornetto. All home-made.
In short, we had a lovely time at Harmony, and if I go back to Palermo I will most certainly stay there again.
I recommend it to everyone.

  • Liked — location, cleanliness, character
  • Disliked — Everything was great. However, wouldn't be good for wheelchair-bound as rooms accessible only via steep staircase (hotel is a historic plazzo)

My husband and I stayed one night at the Harmony Bed and Breakfast in Palermo. We wish we had stayed much longer. The people at the front desk were great. Our room (#21) was beautifully decorated and spacious, it contained a bedroom, sitting room, study and large bathroom. There was airconditioning (a blessing in Sicily), TV and small fridge. It was located in the heart of the historic center near many great restaurants and tourist attractions. The manager arranged a taxi to take us to the airport at 3:30am which help us tremendously. I would definately stay there again. The price is also terrific.

Tucked away down a backstreet this hotel was just what we were looking for in Palermo. Right in the middle of the rejuvenated historic area it was an excellent location for exploring the city. There are some good restaurants close by and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Only bad thing about the hotel is that it isn’t very sound proof. You are on a tiny side street which a fair amount of traffic goes down. Palermo doesn’t go to sleep until late and wakes up early, so not good for those who need to get a really good nights sleep. It's not bad enough to ruin the stay though.
On the plus side, the room was large and clean and you really felt as though you were in the heart of things.

I found this B&B's web site much easier than I found the facility itself. It's tucked away on a narrow, winding street in the old section of Palermo. Because we were unfamilar with the city, we relied on a cab driver to locate it for us. Even he nearly drove right past. As the attached photo shows, it's easy to drive by. For a better view of the entire facility, check out its web site at ---. There's also pricing information and a reservation link.

We loved the place. It's small (seven rooms, I think) but the staff was professional in every respect. The room was large, immaculate, air conditioned, had a TV, a safe and even a refrigerated mini-bar. Breakfasts were very good.

In part because of its location, the room was quiet; street noise was minimal. Based on our daytime observations, this probably can't be said of many Palermo hotels and B&Bs.

At first, we were somewhat leery of the location but our concerns were quickly dispelled. The streets were well lighted and we frequently saw caribineri patrol cars in the neighborhood. (Incidentally, we felt safe everywhere in Palermo; there was a very definite police presence throughout the city and we were never bothered by anyone. Indeed, locals were friendly and helpful.)

An unexpected bonus was the fact that just around the corner was an excellent restaurant, the Foccaceria del San Francesco. The food there was spectacularly good and reasonably priced. Located in a piazza directly in front of the church of San Francesco, it turns out to be a world-famous restaurant.

Our double room at the B&B cost 68 euros a night. They don't take credit cards but there are several Bancomats (ATMs) nearby. Many of Palermo's most attractive tourist sites are also nearby; we walked to many of them in 20 minutes or so.

We liked everything about the Harmony -- the location, the room, the breakfasts and the very helpful staff -- and we would unhesitatingly recommend it to others.
