This place is a gem......a fabulous villa overlooking the beautiful bay and mountains, a world away but only a bus trip away from the frantic hustle and bustle of Palermo and a five minute walk to the beach and restaurants. Our hostess is a wonderful Sicilian woman, warm and welcoming, and it was hard to leave the terrace every morning to go sightseeing! Very clean, comfortable, and delicious breakfast. Very highly recommended....

An ideal base for a family stopover to visit Mondello and Palermo. Don’t be put off by outskirts as you drive in: the B and B is in a safe, quiet residential area five minutes walk down a road and steps to the beach and restaurants. The small apartment is charmingly decorated with lots of books, wooden tables, comfy sofas as well as shells, photos and artefacts brought back by the owner’s son from around the world. The B and B has a small garden, with dogs and cats pottering around and breakfast is served on the owner’s pretty terrace with fantastic views over the bay; you also have tea and coffee in the apartment. This side of Mondello has a quaint, traditional family feel, with a safe sandy beach for kids. We drove to Palermo and parked easily, but there is also public transport. The friendly owner has good recommendations for things to do and places to eat at. Palermo was fascinating.

this is a wonderful pace to stay if you are visiting palermo. we stayed in the suite, which is very comfortable with a nice balcony. mondello beach area is an short walk with good restaurants and shops, palermo is an easy bus ride. staying in mondello is much quieter and more pleasant than the chaotic city. best is the wonderful hospitality of the hostess and her staff. they were extremely helpful and speak good english.
breakfast is excellent and beautifully served on the veranda which enjoys a spectacular view of the bay and mount pellegrino. i highly recommend this delightful b&b.

We stayed 3 nights in Glicine in the Matrimonial suite.
The accommodation was comfortable, but I would not call it a suite. It was a bedroom with a very small separate sitting area. The place needs a good cleaning and refurbishing.

Il Glicine was the most amazing place I have ever stayed! Sylvana and Euginio looked after my friend and I like we were VIP's
The room was clean, spacious and well equipped. there was tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and a TV with Sky so we watched the music channel whilst getting ready to go out in the evening
In the mornings we were greeted with breakfast on the roof terrace which had the most magnificent views. Eggs were fresh from Sylvana's chickens, bread, fruit homemade marmalades and gorgeous coffee

Mondello is fab too, just right not commercialised (there isn't a cashpoint either so always make sure you have enough cash) most restaurants take cards though
The beach is like the caribbean! the sea turquoise and sunbeds are 10 euros each per day (this includes cushion, table and straw umbrella)

The walk down takes 5 minutes, but the walk back takes 15 due to the sheer hills and steep steps - not for the elderly or unfit!

I would recommend this to anyone and we are already in the process of booking for May
Thank you

The "Il Glicine Mondello Sul Golfo" B&B is a nice home, situated on a sizable lot filled with Mediterranean trees and flowers. Even given the map from the B&B's website, AND a map printed from an online source, finding it can be a challenge (our byline: it's never as easy as it looks). This wasn't helped since we arrived on Apr 25 (2007) - aware that this is a holiday in Italy (Liberation Day), but not really expecting absolutely wall-to-wall people in Mondello (the next day it was quite empty).

We did find it, though, and called Silvana Pucci from the property's gate. She arrived very punctually and was very friendly and accommodating in showing us around.

The two of us stayed in the "Independent villa with garden" for which we paid 90 Euros per night. It has a small kitchen, a dining/sitting room, desk, large closet, bathroom, and bedroom, and also contains a couch which makes into another bed. Family artifacts abound, and the experience is rather like staying with relatives, but with interaction only when desired. An added bonus for us were the two resident dogs (which, unfortunately, were banned from entering the room because of shedding).

Breakfast is generally on the terrace above with views out over the sea, or, in case of rain, in Silvana's dining room. In any case, the fare was nicely done with breads, jams, fresh fruit, and coffee.

Between our limited Italian and Silvana's English, we were able to communicate without problem, and she was helpful in suggestions of how best to get into Palermo, where to park, and what to see.

It is an easy walk down into the "village" or beach of Mondello. It is definitely "down", so be aware that coming back is "up". Being a resort area, there are many restaurants and shops in the area.

The weather was very nice while we were there - rain one night, but generally clear during the day. As the suite has no (apparent) air conditioning, it might be uncomfortable in really hot weather, though being shaded in the garden would help.

Overall a very pleasant experience.

We spend 4 days at Bed&Breakfast Glicine "Il Golfo" from 08 til 12 January 2007.
After a busy year 2006, we needed some days of relax and inspiration to recharge our batteries for 2007.
So we've chosen Il Golfo for this in the Internet.
Already the booking procedure was very professional and easy to handle. Also the description "how to arrive" was unique, a hand drawed map with all indications, so that we couldn't get wrong. By the way, we found the house immediately, and Silvana (the owner) told us, that we've been the first to arrive without calling her...

So it started the right way! The matrimonial suite was perfect for us, the breakfast very good with fresh orange juice, three homemade marmelades, variety of freshly baked bread, coffee from the "mocca" and a host which could answer all of our questions.

The price was all about 304€ for the 4 days and it was worth it.
The weather was with us, we visited the western part of the island, going to Monreale, San Vito lo Capo (ristorante "Alfredo", great personality and good food), Erice (a must) and obviously to Corleone (as fans of "The Godfather"...).
Overall, it was the best we could do to stay at "Il Golfo".
Thank you for beautiful days at Mondello.
