A truly magnificent theatre that's really worth seeing from the inside. I wished there were performances on when we were in palermo!

Take the guided tour of the Teatro Massimo which has a huge stage that must be the largest in the world. You can book seats for the Opera on the Website. The Opera season is now restricted owing to financial problems faced by the Tearo Massimo. This is resulting is lack of maintenance that is evident in some places such as the entrance. One of Verdi's Opera's made its debut here.
This is no provincial theatre but an Opera House that ranks with the top ones around the world. Worth a visit!

7 euro ticket for a 15 min tour

However the highlight is:

one room where the men chatted in breaks or before entering and it's built in a way that the sound Ecos either to amplify sound for announcements or speaches or to conceal side conversation it depending on where u stand in the room

We had been to Palermo before but had only seen the theatre from the outside. This time, in part to avoid a rain shower, we took the guided tour. We are not opera fans but, nevertheless, we enjoyed the tour although it was quite short at around thirty minutes.

we were fortunate to visit the Teatro on a celebration weekend and saw the entire facility free of charge. The tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the tour concluded with a small performance in a side room.Tour was very enjoyable and worth considering if time is available
