“I felt at home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

I stayed in the Ambasciatori Hotel for four nights. I was alone since I arrived a few days early for a conference. Being a woman alone in a foreign city could be very daunting, but from the minute I arrived, the young and friendly staff made me feel at home and like I was welcome to ask anything. I loved being able to sit at the roof terrace restaurant just for a drink in the evenings. My room was big and quiet and when I mentioned that my air-con didn't work, a girl arrived at my room with a step ladder, got up there, opened it and fixed it within minutes. I can also mention that I moved to another hotel when my colleagues arrived, and it just wasn't the same, even though that hotel was a lot more expensive. I recommend this Hotel to everyone.

This hotel is on via Roma in an old building with apartments changed into rooms. The staff is friendly, the rooms are fine. The back rooms are quite but dark. The roof terrace is wonderful for breakfast, drinks and dinner.
It is well located for arrival from the airport , a short walk away from the staion.

My wife and I arrived in Palermo late evening after a 10 hour train trip from Sorrento. Finding the hotel was easy enough after a 10 minute walk from the station but at night the surrounding district didn't look too inviting and our first impression of the hotel was similar. However there was no need for concern as the staff were helpful and the room, although a little dated was comfortable enough for the one night we were staying. After our long trip we were hungry and fortunately the hotel had a rooftop restaurant which was still open. The food was actually pretty good and the view from the rooftop was amazing.

Having been told that Palermo was dirty, noisy, and chaotic, my wife and I were delighted to learn that these evaluations of the city were not borne out by our experiences and certainly did not apply to our all too short stay (three nights) at the Ambasciatori Hotel. Arriving in Palermo by train we easily walked up Via Roma 5 to 7 minutes to the hotel. Our room 602 was in the back and was clean and quiet. The view from the terrace over the roofs of Palermo was fantastic. The breakfasts served on the terrace as one watched the sun light up the church domes stretching across the city were delicious. We also enjoyed two dinners that were quite tasty and enjoyable. Overhearing some guests at a nearby table, I gathered that rooms facing the street may be noisy but ours in the back were quiet. We will certainly attempt to reserve at this hotel on our return to Palermo.

Room Tip: Suggest a room not facing the street.

The Ambasciatori Hotel has a great location, delicious breakfast, helpful staff, clean, nice rooms and a FANTASTIC terrace which overlooks all of Palermo. While our room was tastefully decorated with a large bathroom, the only window looked out into a dark, gloomy airshaft. Great for noise control but a little claustrophobic. We especially appreciated the ease and cost of transport by bus from the airport. We would definitely would return.

Room Tip: Ask personnel at the desk for the quietest room.

This must be one of the best value hotels ever. The position is great, our third floor room lovely, and bathroom the best of our trip. Staff helpful and courteous. That would make it a great place to stay even without ....
The roof terrace: fabulous spot! I doubt we would have found anywhere better to eat even if we had done our usual endless searching for the right place. It's not just a hotel add-on; there's a proper kitchen with a proper chef and proper waitresses, in the most idyllic situation. You can't even hear the traffic in this busiest of cities. To return in the morning for a really good breakfast was no hardship.

The hotel turned out to be every bit as good as we expected. It is well located and, despite repeated warnings from a hotel porter, we did not once feel threatened during our stay. Our room (on the 3rd floor) was spacious, comfortable and had a decent sized, well appointed bathroom. Pity we couldn't get more natural ventilation as neither of us like air-con running through the night. Much has been written about the roof-top terrace and it didn't disappoint - there cannot be many (if any) better places to have breakfast on a warm October morning in Palermo. All the staff were extremely polite, helpful and friendly with all our questions and information requests dealt with - including booking a restaurant for us.

Room Tip: The rooms to the rear would seem to be quiter but if, like us, you like a window open at night you m...
