“beautiful hotel, friendly staff, central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

This is a comfortable hotel, centrally situated, reasonably priced, with a four star feel and a great breakfast and WiFi. Parking can be a bit tricky but have the odd euro ready and a "parker" will spring out of nowhere to help you along. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the fourth floor to insulate yourselves from the club music on the street below...

Stayed at the Best Western Al Cavalieri in Palermo on a tour with Grand European, with Insight Tours as the Italian hosts. The hotel was very good and centally located to sights and shopping areas. Staff was OK.

Rooms were nice, clean and breakfast was nice- nothing too special. To me, it lacked character and our room had an awful view of a nearby building. For the price we paid, I expected a bit more out of it but the staff was exceptional and the location was nice- a better part of Palermo.

Rooms were clean but a bit broken down (no cover on the air conditions box and exposed cables) but staff were surly at best. Breakfast was marginal with watered down juice and the worst coffee we have had in Italy. Hoping for new staff attitude at breakfast but disappointed there. Would not recommend this hotel despite its excellent location.

We stayed three nights in this Best Western where some care had been taken to update an old palazzo. The location was excellent, in the old town, round the corner from the Teatro Massimo with restaurants and shops nearby. Our room was in the front and, at first, we were a little fearful that there would be a lot of noise from the 'club' underneath and the tables outside, but the street itself is very quiet so we were undisturbed. The bedroom was plain and unfussy though I found the mattress a little too firm. The bathroom was small but adequate. Public rooms were OK and the hotel bar had an outside extension. Breakfasts were reasonably varied though (not unusual in Italy!) most of the food was on the lukewarm side. We had one evening meal there which was pleasant and typically Italian.

Having arrived there after a long flight we were given a room on the second floor facing the street. The room was nice, clean and comfortable, everything working well. We really enjoyed the breakfast under a huge tent with a good choice of both Continental and Merditerranean food. I also appreciate the effort of the hotel to provide one with anything that the guest may have forgotten at home (an approproate note is to be found in the room)
