“Convenient spot for a non-tourist lunch during a day of touring”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2014

This cute little trattoria is located an easy walking distance from lots of the great sites in Palermo. The lunch was lovely and the waitress was really sweet. We took her recommendations and enjoyed our risottos and pastas. The service wasn't speedy, but the food was fresh.

“Fast service, bad food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

Waiters in livery ready to serve (the restaurant was empty) under the controlling gaze of the owner – supervisor. The white house wine was close to the worst I ever tasted; despite the oversalted and overcooked pasta (I left most of it), I could only swallow half of a glass. The buffet of side dishes and appetizers was appealing, but just in the appearance; the taste, if ever present, was killed by the glacial temperature. Maybe the restaurant has some redeeming qualities which do not show up when business is low.

“Excellent food at the edge of the "Vucciria" neighborhood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

The restaurant's name (which means "The master of the broth") refers properly on what is the acknowledged specialty of the property, ie the broth. This is prepared by boiling beef (even with a little of fat, at your request) and accompanying it and its broth with boiled potatoes: a simple but excellent dish. But if this is a "must", there is also other. Recommended by our dinner companions from Palermo, we tasted "bucatini" (ie, thick spaghetti) with broccoli: the warning is to ask for the addition on top of toasted breadcrumbs, typical of Palermo in place of Parmesano cheese. Also great were mixed starters (two dishes shared by four persons), self-service available, and the cassata (typical Sicilian sweet) from the oven. All this, with mineral water and a good wine bottle "Nero di Avola" involved a fair bill of 30 euro per head.
The restaurant doesn't look fancy, but features a nice folksy look. The typical characters of the "Vucciria" neighborhhod, one of the most picturesque in Palermo (the restaurant is located on the edge of it) adds attractiveness to the property.

“Good choice for Palermo-lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

This restaurant (or more precisely cafe) offers traditional Sicilian/Palerman food. Antipasti is offered as a self-service buffet with a nice selection of the typical antipasti (comparable to greek/turkish meze). Standard menu, various types of pasta with fish for instance. Busy at lunch time, the room is somewhat cramped. This is not a posh restaurant, but an effective trattoria with solid food. Value for money if you want nurturing sea food. Some of the staff speak good english.

“Best pasta in Siciliy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

Great food and personal friendly service- don't miss this place! We arrived early for lunch and where the first guests, but the place soon filled up. We where helped by a very friendly waitress who spoke good English and trnslated what we needed translating. Do not miss the antipasto buffet, with well executed Sicilian antipasto dishes, such as sardines stuffed with breadcrumbs, all preparred to perfection. The pasta with swordfish was probably the best we had in Sicily- cooked to perfection with a light and delicate sause. We had trouble deciding on fish and they therefore cooked a mixture of things- gently fried calamari and two different types of grilled fish. All very well preparred, and extremely fresh. We had a great meal, and where pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. When back in Palermo, we will for sure return!
