Probably the best chocolate icecream ever, in an oddly British-looking, charming and comfortable cafe/delicatessen. Nice staff, good coffee.

This place is usually full of real Sicilians. It's great to breath a little local air and try all sorts of handmade specialties. Who doesn't eat here takes their food home. Different pastas, fillings and breathtaking desserts are displayed in an appetising manner and invite to buy too much.
The Spinnato Cafe in the pedestrian walk Via Principe del Belmonte is a lovely place for a latte macchiato on the terrace!

We visited the Spinnatos near to the Teatro Politeama and loved the place. It's situated next to a McDonalds which highlighted its local qualities. We ended up going there at least once a day, sometimes more. Especially loved the ice cream in a bun, can't eat a bun nowadays without having a scoop of ice cream in it - mmmmm.

We tried many Sicilian specialities here, as the prices were so affordable. For example, we tried arancini - deep fried risotto balls, which were fantastic, as well as cannoli - the local dessert with ricotta. Also very nice. Surprisingly, the tastiest thing was the nice sandwiches they had on offer - very different from those you'd find in England. Extremely large trays of sandwiches which they'd then slice up into big squares for you. The one we tried was a nice brown sesame type bread that had ham and tomato in. Sounds simple but was so nice. Go to spinnatos!

Also great pistachio ice cream. The best.
