This is a very well located hotel in fact about 15 mins walk from the centre of town and very safe area to stay, though we did not ever feel threatened in any part of the city.
The breakfast as in other hotels in this area is certainly not one of the best in fact continental style but they do eggs for you on request.
Lots of tours stay in this hotel, and the rooms can be on the small side so please request for larger room s. This hotel does have a gym fairly adequate, please please do not expect the usual Hiltons all over the world

We got a really fantastic deal with this hotel so it felt like we were getting an absolute bargain, but i would have paid alot more to stay here, the rooms were huge, the bathrooms were huge, the beds were so comfy. There was also a tea and coffee tray which you dont often get in europe but was much appreciated. I thought the room was very nicely decorated, it was really clean and new looking. If i had to say anything negative it would be that we had a rubbish view of a wall, but it didnt matter when it was so beautiful outside. The staff were very helpful and as we were four freinds they got us ajoining rooms with a door, so it was like one big room.
it is a bit of a walk into the main bit of the town with all the restaurants and bars but it is a nice walk and there is a taxi rank just outside.
it is also perfect if you get a bus from the aiport as the bus stops very close by, and from the bus stop outside you can also get a short bus to the beach.
overall a great hotel i would recoemmed to everyone

We stayed at the Excelsior Hilton for two nights, May 25 and May 26. We were told that we had received an upgraded room (since my husband is a Diamond member), and it was a pretty nice room. However, I have included a photo of the way the bed was made up - it looked awful and not what you typically see in a Hilton Hotel, plus there was a large tear on the top sheet! We did not find the staff to be too helpful. They would answer questions, but they did not seem knowledgable or extra helpful about most of our requests. We agree that the location was very good - we felt safe walking around the area, and it was an easy bus ride to get to old town where many of the sites are located. We have always received some kind of perks when staying at Hiltons - some fruit or bottle of wine, but there was nothing in our room (until we mentioned it to them). Breakfast was very good, and the staff were very friendly there. The other Hilton we stayed at on Sicily was the Hilton in Giardini-Naxos, near Taormina. A totally different story! Excellent hotel and staff! Will write a separate review on that one.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Excelsior Palermo Hotel.
We got a good rate and found the room, staff and food really good.
While we found Palermo a bit frantic and a little scary for an unfamliar driver we found this hotel with it's excellent location to be really great.

Room Tip: Ensure you have a room with good air conditioning as the temperature soars in Palermo.

After three weeks traveling throughout Italy and Sicily, I have to say that this hotel was my least favorite. The room was quite stuffy and hot...and it was a tiny miracle to figure out how the ceiling windows could open or air conditioner worked. I was worried that there wasn't enough air flow to sleep comfortably. Probably would have been different had someone either explained or showed us how to do these things.

But, the beds were quite comfortable and the room was nice. It was expensive to have wifi, so I had to forgo it, which I was sad about.

The last morning we were there, I wanted a bottle of water. The girl at the desk just pointed me towards the restaurant. Nobody was there. Nobody in the bar either. I wandered around the back of the kitchen trying to find someone to help me. Finally I spotted a man down the hall and asked for water. I had to accompany him back into the kitchen area, and then walk back to the front desk to pay for it. So, I guess I would say that the service was not that great for me, but reading other reviews tells me that possibly it was just a bad day.

I did love the location of this hotel. Felt very safe walking down the main boulevard, which was lined with trees. Lovely walk down to the piazza and easy walking to the Teatro Massimo.

Another trip to Sicily - I would probably look for another hotel in the same area.

Stayed at this hotel whilst celebrating my birthday with friends , The location is excellent , the hotel has a nice colonial feel ,the breakfast was was impeccable , service was a bit lax ( guess the Italian do tend to have a laid back attitude. We found the reception desk unmanned a few times , not an usual thing you will experience in other Hilton Hotels. Overall a brilliant stay.
