Nice hotel to stay in the centre of Palermo. Rooms are fine, exactly what you need with airco and a nice shower. Breakfast is just fine, not to much choices but perfect balanced.
The staff helps you with a map and explains how to explore the city.

Dear Guest,
we would like to thank you for spending your stay at hotel Tonic and for taking the time to post your kind feedback.
What a pleasure to hear that you had a very good time here with us! Your satisfaction gratifies us and motivates us to do our best everyday and to improve our service more and more.
We are very happy to know that you loved our renovated rooms, nice decorated and equipped with all the comforts you needed.
However, it saddens us to learn that you considered our breakfast just fine: we offer a big choice of sweet and salty high quality products (cakes, croissants, yogurt, cereals, boiled and scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, etc). We would like to know what you would have prefer to find in the buffet in order to improve it even more.
Many thanks for appreciating the kindness of our staff who really takes care of our guests from the very first moment they arrive until the moment they leave.
We truly hope you to come back soon.
Best Regards,

A good location - close to both a drop-off point for the airport bus (Politeama) and also for visiting the major tourist sites. Surprisingly quiet for a city-centre location.
Clean, comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

We stayed for 14 nights in this hotel. The hotel is perfect situated in the historical centre. From the airport, we took the bus ( 10 euro a return ticket or 6.30 euro a single ticket) and get off at Politeama stop . The hotel is at around 200 m from the bus stop. The building is recently renovated and refurbished. ( But the style is vintage so someone could be unsatisfayed- it is not at all the Ikea style). The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful: they gave us a kettle, cups, a map of the town and recommended us where to go in and around Palermo). The room was big, with comfortables beds, tv set, fridge and very very clean. The bathroom was big and clean, very well dotated with shampoo, soap, hair dryer etc.
Because the walls are very talls, the internet wifi signal was very weak ( but it wasn't a problem, because in the hall there is an ibternet point with a computer and a good signal; in plus, in many places in Palermo there is a wifi free- especially in the parks).
The breakfast was very good, in a clean and ellegant place; the breakfast team was very friendly and efficient- the hand prepared capuccino or the others sorts of coffee are extra!!!
The room keepers were very serious: every day the towels were changed, the room cleaned and every 2-3 days they changed the sheets and pillow case were changed.
Must know: 1. A big supermarket opened all the ti.e is on Via de la liberta( Carrefour)
2. A laundry self service is on Via Volturno
3. The best ice-cream ( and probabely the cheapest) is on the hotel street
4. Don't leave Palermo without visiting Cefalu ( train 11.20 euro a return ticket), Mondello (bus 2.80 euro a return ticket)and Sferracavallo ( bus 2.80 euro a return ticket).
So we wait with pleasure to return to Tonic hotel in our next trip to Palermo.

The hotel is in a great location, a really easy walk from every attraction and very close to supermarkets. The breakfast was really good with a great selection and really friendly staff.
There are stairs to get into the hotel which makes it really difficult with heavy suitcases. We struggled to lift our bags. The elevator is tiny and very old (doesn't feel safe) which means our two medium suitcases barely fit in with two people. The halls also echo really badly so we were woken every morning by people walking to breakfast.
The room was spacious but the floors were not clean so lying down to stretch or taking off your shoes isn't really an option. There is a desk and a window that opens with blinds that make the room great for sleeping in. A fridge is provided and they encourage you to fill it with supermarket goods that you can eat for lunch and even dinner.

The bed was fine but only one dodgy pillow was provided and no extra blankets so we didn't have a comfortable nights sleep. One of our beds didn't even have a blanket and my mum got so cold I moved her into my bed with me so she could get some sleep.
What we really hated about this hotel was the bathroom. The bathroom was so tiny that I couldn't even stretch my arms out in any direction. There was a really large modern sink that took up most of the space, the two toilets had you sitting under this sink (you could rest your arms there) and meant you had to side step between the sink and shower to wedge yourself into the tiny corner with the toilet. The shower was also incredibly tiny to the point that I had to shower with the shower door open to even fit. I couldn't wash my hair due to the lack of space, there is no spot for your soap or shampoo and the shower head was incredibly low and not adjustable unless you want to juggle it while you shower.

We were also really angry when they took our towels and never replaced them. So not only was the shower crap but we then couldn't dry ourselves. We were so angry but had to check out at 5am so couldn't even be bothered arguing over it.

In addition, the hotel says free wifi but I don't count it when the wifi doesn't work. I couldn't even load a webpage let alone do anything constructive! We were very frustrated as we couldn't Skype our family or even post on Facebook so that they would know we were there safely.

The reception staff were average as most did not speak English well and they did not know anything about the tourist attractions. We were told to visit the palace on a Sunday and that everything would be open but it opened at 10am and shut at 1pm with only the chapel even open! The Cathedral was also shut.... They knew nothing and gave really bad advice about this.

Overall we did not like staying here for even one night let alone three and would never return.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a bathroom that can actually be used

Dear Guest,
we really want to thank you for choosing our hotel and for taking the time to post such a long and detailed review.
Firstly, we would like to reply to the positive things you said about us and then we will argue about your critics, since we had no the opportunity to do it during your stay.
We are glad to hear that the hotel location met your expectations, that you really enjoyed our rich and delicious breakfast and that you found the staff very friendly.
It saddens us to hear that you had some difficulties to climb the stairs and that you found the elevator tiny and old, but we may assure you that it is really safe.
It also saddens us to read that the room's floor was not really clean. It seems us strange, because our housekeeping staff always pays lot of attention to the hygiene and the cleaning. However, our excuses.
We are sorry to hear that you didn't find the extra blanket in your wardrobe and that you didn't receive some extra towels. It seems us really strange and we really cannot understand the reason why you didn't call the reception to report the problem and ask for help. Our reception is open 24 hours per day and our staff is always pleased to help our guests and to assure them a lovely stay.
As regards the bathroom, we would like you to know that there is just one toilet, the other one is a bidet ("a low, basinlike bathroom fixture, usually with spigots, used for bathing the genital and perineal areas"). Furthermore, it is not true that you cannot move inside the bathroom or that you cannot stretch your arms. As regards the shower, we are sorry to learn that you took it with the doors opened (it was really not necessary) and that you was not able to wash your hair, we truly don't understand the reason why. We always give the toilet amenities (soap, intimate soap, shampoo, shower cap) and every shower has a place for them (and, of course, we have an hair dryer too). Even in this case, why didn't you call the reception? If we were you, we would do it. This is the reason why we find your review not entirely true and honest.
As regards internet, we offer a free wi-fi connection, that works very well everywhere in the building and we also make available a free internet point equipped with a computer and a printer. We are sorry to hear that you was not able to communicate to your family and friends and to assure them that you was safe. However, you had lots of possibility to do that: you could have used the wi-fi, or the free computer available to the guests, or the telephone that was in your room or your smartphone (internet is very useful, but fortunately it is not the only way to communicate).
Finally, it truly hurts us to read such an unkind comment about our staff, who is very friendly and professional. The receptions guys in particular are able to speak English and French and someone is also able to speak Spanish and German. Furthermore, they know very well the tourist attractions and they are always pleased to offer a concierge service. If things really were so, of course they would not be here, don't you think?
Finally, we are sorry to hear that you would never return, but frankly we love persons who say the truth, persons who give constructive criticism and you didn't, so maybe it's better this way.
Kind Regards,

The General Manager
