Allow an hour to view this remarkable collection and hear about the history of these varied and very beautiful antique Sicilian tiles dating from the late 16th to early 20th century. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and infectiously enthusiastic. Make sure to phone ahead to make an appointment as the museum is in his home. Despite the owner having adequate, English he had organised an English translator to ensure we could understand everything. The entrance was not obvious to us as the doorway is to a courtyard, not directly to the museum, and has 16 intercom buttons that look like they are for an apartment block with one simply labelled as P Mellina Stanze Al Genio. The museum is in the process of being expanded to encompass even more of his collection despite receiving no public funding. An absolute delight!
